Can I run a line splitter off my timer?

I'm wondering if I can plug two things into one timer jack?

I'm not concerned with overload, but I'm running an LED light, and I don't want to harm it.

dont want to harm the timer?

There should be a plate on the timer giving you the amperage capacity.

I'm nowhere near capacity, and I don't care much about the timer, but I don't know enough about electricity to know if my Kessil light could be harmed.

I read that surge protectors should not be plugged into timers, so I thought I'd ask about this.

Never heard the surge protector/timer thing. Maybe the on/off of the timer could mess with the surge protection, I dunno.

Anyway, they make these great extension cords that have 2 or more 3 prong outlets. One of those would definitely work.

Home Depot sells nice grounded Y adapters that can split or triple split. Most timers are rated for about 1500 watts of total power, give or take. You'll be fine using a splitter. I'm using a splitter on mine now in a veg room, it powers a 1000w MH and a 406w T5HO off of the Y. Just plug the Y into the timer, then devices into the Y.

Price-wise it shoudnt cost more than $10 or so for a nice thick one......

I have a splitter off my timer with a LED UFO and HPS on it, no problems.

Some timers have 2 outlets built right in, if you feel like spending 5-10 bucks.

Thanks, Kitty. I'm going to buy a quality timer with multiple outlets. But I need to use this one for a couple of days.

I'll give it a whirl.

I dont know if you have Arbor Freight Tools where u live,but they sell double outlet timers for $5.The same kind they sell at my hydro store for $20.I use a powerstrip on one of my timers to add cfls to my hps during flowering.Done it for years with no problem.
