Can I Use This CFL?

Hey I'm new to growing indoors. I always used to grow outdoors but little critters used to crawl all over. I'm wondering if these lights will work for growing. I have these http://www.benfranklincrafts.com/servlet/the-81778/SW100-CFL-26W-MINI-dsh-SPIRAL/Detail

I am only going to use one. Will it work. It won't be a full time light, the seedling is on my windowsill. It just doesn't get enough hours of light so I was thinking of using this light.
 
Hi, yes it would work.
you need 6400k for veg and 2700k for flower.

The more light the more smoke!

As 420 said, i thought i read that it was just for while it is a seedling.
 
build something like this if you have got the room, get like 6 cfl's and a few fans and your be away!.

Hey I kinda built that, I have the lights but I don't have the lamps. I'm gonna need to pick some up. I made a room out of a dresser. I took out the drawers, and took out the little wooden bottom walls so the drawer is hollow, then I covered the place in tin foil and put a little fan in. Then I put in the drawers so It woudnt look suspicious. Do you know where I can get any cheap lamps for the lights?
 
have the lights but not the lamp??? u mean u have the bulbs and need a light socket still or that u have the light socket you just need the bulbs?

I take it you are in the uk?
If so, check out screwfix. great place!
they have 2700k 25w cfl's for £1.93 and the fittings already wired up for £1.21.

2700k is for flower, 6400k for veg but a mix of both would be better.
i have found that the 6400k bulbs cost quiet a bit more than the 2700k.
150 actuall watts per plant is what you want to aim for.
Also, wickes sell 2ft tube with fittings for about £7.00

Timer; Tesco sells timers too, not digital thought, but for £2.00 you carnt complain

its called wal-mart or home depot or lowes or k-mart or fleet farm or tru-value or walgreens or most random hardware stores or etc......go to wal mart or go online to find em for the best prices.
 
hey make sure you go to the hardware store and get some y spliters i know nome depot sells them for $1.69 (EA)..ill post a pick


if you look at my rig you can see the y-spliter.. makes 1 lamp =2 ,,,ps with the cfls your using you dont have to worry about the watt max cuz there so low

im using 6 of these plus a shop light thats bout 80 w , so total its 236 watts for two ladies they seem to love it but yeah dude before you buy that two pack thier on sale at walmart 6 for like 14.00 so
 
Here is what my little seedling looks like. She/he (hopefully a she) is pretty small as you can see. But I will keep you guys up dated on him/her

Does my plant look healthy? I am germintating a couple more seeds and I will grow those too. One of the seeds was white, but I used the paper towel method and it turned its normal color. It should pop in 1-2 days tops. I will post pics.

From what i can see, yes, she does look healthy but get those lights on her asap to stop any stretch that might happen!
Maybe upgrade the soil, it looks a little rough imo
