Yes, and no. You don't need to partition anything off if you don't plan to run crops perpetually with dedicated rooms for veg+flower. But if you want to be preparing the next batch while your current batch is flowering then you do need to partition the room into at least 2 spaces with separate air exchange/environmental controls to do it right.

My friend is using a medium size cabinet that is light proof and has four baby girls that just were super cropped to control the height until flowering is done in a couple weeks. he just installed inside the room that's flowering. He has a 10w warm LED to keep them smaller right now. He was thinking of adding a couple more possibly since he has them lying around. Once main lights come on, the babies go into the main room.
