Can people really get 1 pound from one plant indoors?

My buddy has a growing method of running the lights with no ballasts. Just the light hanging upside down vertically and going back and forth between 2 tables. Has anyone else tried this method?

Hoods/Reflectors....not ballasts. If he gots no ballasts, he gots no light, lol.

And Im sure a pound a plant can be done with longer veg times indoors. Most just dont le them get that big is all. Indoor grower tend to have one of the same problems...space.
