As of hydro, who ever is using premixed or better yet premixed liquid fertilizers is wrong, so as I saw most of people are using them I am not surprised that they are doing better in soil than in "that hydro"

once you start growing with organic soil and LED lights, you have to move to san francisco and start smelling your own farts.

Little off-topic, the LAW in my country states:
If you add artificial light to plants - its no longer considered organic so you cant claim organic producer status

My lobelia plant did great last year. Final repotting was 1 gallon w/FFOF, which worked with plain water for about a month, then I started seeing deficiencies. So I gradually started feeding Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro, and by the end of the year, it was a beast!
So it was transitioned slowly from 100% organic to hydro nutes -- and did great.
I bet the same technique would work for cannabis.

yeah i have... homegrown tomatoes in soil are by far far better then hydro imo... as i said though each to their own man have at it .. (-: isnt that what this is all about anyway?

To be honest Rrog, I see the appeal of "little eco system in every pot for full plant nutrition + benefits of nematodes and bacteria and so on".
But, maybe I am arrogant, I believe the science has advanced so much its possible to suppress soil performance with hydro doing it the right way. Biggest concern about soil is it's impossible to feed nutrients, water and oxygen to roots in the same time. Something is always (in a moment) neglected.
I'm planing to build a greenhouse of vegetables for me personally and few friends. I'll be running everything in hydroponics but I'll be using only heirloom vegetable not commercial/greenhouse strains.

I think the value of "Science and scientists" went out the door in the 50's. Science isn't a religion, and scientists are not divine. Unfortunately the "science" is in favor of corporations and all the goodness they bring.
And you can EASILY test two tomatoes and determine whose is more nutrient dense.
And you will not be seeing the benefits of microbes. This is the big folly.

I never tried good hydro vegetable in my life, everything i tried sucked. But I'm blaming bad genetics and bad hydro practices/knowlage.
I'm waiting for a day when i try to grow something like this:
In "my" hydro system and formula.
When that day comes I'll contact you. As now - I never had good hydro vegetable...

Completely human nature for men. Not so much for women, and there's something to be said for that.

I agree that corporations destroy (systemically) peoples health. But to be honest hydroponics was used even in ancient world - so the concept of soilless culture is not something that is bad.
Now to general population - people, in my experience, are dumb and lazy (especially now with cellphones and everything). To eat good and exercise is a choice not something you are born into.
In my country average yearly salary is around 8.700€ and everything is more (20-30%) expensive than in USA (cars are sometimes 2-3x more expensive - gas as well 2-3x) and still if you want, you can eat well but not from supermarkets or mcdonalds....
