I was changing my plant today to put in a bigger pot i got fresh soil. so i removed the plant from the old container and put it in the new pot with in 20 minutes the plants started withering away and started to look like it was dying i waterd it and it seemed to have no affect what should i do or is it to late

Give it a good watering and leave it. It should be okay. :mrgreen::peace:

even if i damaged the roots like i heard of a plant going into shock im curious to know how long they go into shock for

It will go into shock, but should adjust well to it's new pot. In a day or 2 you will notice a nice perky plant again. Think of it as being grumpy and mad right now, you just took it out of it's nice cozy bed and now it is in a new one. Needs time to ajust. Love it and it will grow. :mrgreen::peace:

for transplanting, its good to use something like B1 Thrive Alive to help the plant adjust. its not necessary, but it seems like yours could use some - prolly too late now though. but yeah, water & rest will help it return to normal at this point.
