my camera's on the fritz so i can't show what i've got til i get a new one, but as a clone i was told it was trainwreck. this was early may. as of the now it's about 4 feet tall give or take, and really thick. base of the stem is about as fat as a red bull can, maybe a little thicker.

at this point i'm hoping that what i have is NOT pure trainwreck, because of this northern climate, i fear it won't last into november. as fat as it is i'm hoping it may contain some indica genetics.

i've seen many pictures online claiming to be trainwreck, but most look different so it's hard for me to get any confirmation.

Pics ant gonna tell ya anything, in veg it looks like all the others.
Here's how to tell, run your hand through the leaf and smell it. If it smells dank with a trace of diesel fuel you got trainwreck. Oh, and BTW it is one of the fastest finishing strains I've grown. Like 6 to seven weeks and you can cut.

I've grown it 5 or 6 times. Right now I got a girl thats about 6 feet and in full flower and a little one in my cab that's just finished with a couple other strains. Gotta love those calyxes.

The strains called "trainwreck" because a train wrecked close to a guys grow near humbolt and had to cut early.
The plants where a cross and the first time he grew it, anyway they were at 6 weeks and he had to harvest or lose them.

They turned out great and a new strain was born. I got some at 5 weeks now with cloudy trichs.

they're at about 3-4 weeks now, but i can't see harvesting in only 3 more. if anything i might pick a bud and water cure it for a week then dry to test it.

That's about when the main part of the bud is finished and the calyxes start to tower.
If you continue to grow it, they will get like 1/2 inch tall, adding to the final weight.

That may be why people flower for so long.

Trainwreck is heavy indica every time I have ever heard anything about it is that it finishes quick as hell. 50-65 days indoors. I cant say for outside. I would guess 8-9 week flower.

TrainWreck is almost pure sativa. It's origins are Mexican for the most part. There are alot of different phenos of TW nowdays, but the real deal is not a 6 week strain that I've ever heard of. There are other stories about how the name came about too. It's said that it''s called trainwreck cause it's floppy and top heavy indoors(the real deal) and makes the grow room look like a "trainwreck", with the buds all over the place. I just posted some pics of TW buds on another thread recently but I can't find em' right now.
Anyway, I would be checking that starin, and not pulling it till it's done, it could go up to 12 weeks.

Yea, it was the Arcada strain I had read about:

Beserker is the guy who discovered/bred Trainwreck. Steve Tuck is the guy that crossed it with an Afghani to produce a seed-line/woodhorse/meduser Trainwreck.
I cut and pasted this from weedtracker.com

The arcada cut of train wreck gets it name because it was grown, for the first time, on a hillside, that just so happened to have a train wreck happen in the same area that summer, so the guys pulled it early, at around 50-55 days, because they didnt want the grow to be found by the crews doing clean up on the wreck. But what they found out was that the shit was finished, which really shock these guys since it was supposed to be a sat Dom plant. This is the story that I have been told more then once from some very close people to me, that have lived in the Arcada, Ca. area since the 60's, so this is the story that I tend to believe. Now the story about it taking 9 months to mature from seed is total BS and I've also been told that the story about it starting in SD is also BS, the OG train wreck cut came from Arcada all the rest are crosses made from it, or just BS claims. Thats just the info I have gotten form the area.
As per oledad420 on icmag forums

The trainwreck I get from greenhouse seeds seems pretty close to what read.

That's strange, Wheezer,
I have a neighbor who grew it outdoors last year, (Green House Seeds). It finished early like an Indica - and was a pretty heavy smoke. I would never guessed it was a 90% Sativa. But like you say, lots of incarnations of it though...
Having said that, my Kandy Kush (TW x OG) is the last to flower in the main garden. I hope the Sativa comes through in that strain.

goes to show ya the diferences inphenos. I just finished 3 different phenos of Kandy Kush. and 1 finished in 6 weeks the other 2 went 8.
Yea cruzer your right about it coming from Arcata, that's what I've always heard too, but none of the cuts I've seen around here lately have been 5 or6 week strains at all. who knows....

Here, I just cut this Train wreck, it was indoor under a 400w ceramic metal halide bulb.
I went a bit long to build size, give me smoke while the green house finishes.

She went 10 weeks but I could have cut sooner.
