Can someone tell me why not to use General Organics....

Why wouldn't one choose the GO grow box in my situation? I am growing for myself inside a dr60. My only problem is, when using it in the past 2 grows, my plants did not finish as well as I would have liked. I grow in a mix of fox farm ocean forest and light warrior.

The other option I am considering is iguana juice, and voodoo juice used in combination. I would still be growing in soil. The problem with this is that it is a completely different approach than the General organics line...
While the GO line is an active microbial nutrient that basically creates a living environment for you plants to feed the iguana juice is basically sterilized and would feed the plants through a manual mineral uptake and ph adjustment is necessary.....

Or

Mixing my own soil and as one of the great minds on RIU once said, "get out of the hydro store mentality"....

Another thing to add.... My first grow was an experiment and grow 1.2 was a success.. Grow three I grew a male to save the pollen and it was a beast... I am now growing in a dr60 and the lights go on the final time today, so when they go off I will let them sit in dark for a day and then cut them down. I Used the pollen saved from the male and dabbed some on my fav female so now I should have about 10-20 seeds to chose from for my next grow....IMPORTANT i need a nutrient that is organic and will keep my plants healthy till the day I cut them down... I get yellowing and little rust at the end of my grow when using GO....

And if.... I do not have the harvest I hope for this time.... Next time I am going to be running a scrog with two plants and if I am going to be growing for 4-6 months compared to 80 days I will need a nut that can do it....

Has anyone had problems similar to mine with the general organics line? Does anyone use iguana juice and if so what else do u use?

Please only useful and informative post. No bullshit

Last thing to add> I really like the GO line, the last harvest was killer and the plants I am cutting down in the nest 24 hours have amazing buds, I am just wanting a second opinion or two...

Thanks

Iguana juice? Because I have grown with the GO line and if yes to iguana juice what else, it seems voodoo juice would be important but are there any other supplements I should grab too?

U gotta feed heavy with vegan based nutes, use compost teas to supercharge the rhizosphere, and the CalMag+ I find to be a bit weak if u use RO water. Other than that I'm getting my best run ever with the GO line frosty and dank man.

> at growjahsgift, Nice, I feed heavy too! Do u flush ? And do u use the entire line? Would voodoo juice do the same as the tea? What kind of tae mix do u use, I have never went down that road and it seems like it is huge when tea is incorporated... What exactly is tea?

With vegan or Organics in general I've read it's debatable whether a flush really does anything at the end anyway guano residues are very hard to leach out of a soil and with the way the soil-food-nutrient web works the flush would just be releasing more nutes into your medium via slow release N in blood meal and whatnot. As for entirely vegan it's all plant based nutrients so their is no residues to flush out. A compost tea is water + compost + food bubbled with an airstone to release the bacteria and Protozoa trapped inside cysts within the compost. It's a good supercharge for your soil and will aid in the breakdown and hopefully total consumption of all the food you put in your containers as well as giving the myco lots to eat. Which will in turn give your plants the food they need. Brewing a tea just separates the bacteria and Protozoa from the compost and starts the multiplication process. A simple tea recipe is here
Easy tea

1 gallon = 16 cups = 256 tablespoons

2.38% by volume compost or vermicompost (EWC) per gallon = .38 cups or around half a cup max or about 2 cups in 5 gallons max.

0.5 to 0.75% molasses by volume per gallon = 1.28 to 1.92 tablespoons per gallon. 0.75% is the maximum I use. It is a good bacterial and fungal food.

0.063% fish hydrolysate by volume per gallon = 0.16 tablespoon = 0.479 teaspoons or half a teaspoon

0.25% (max) kelpmeal by volume per gallon = 0.64 tablespoon or half a tablespoon

Dilute to 20:1
Apply as a soil drench and foliar spray

My personal advice and method will be to start with subcools supersoil and watch how your plants react to his mix done the way he says. If you lack in anything you can adjust your amendments midcyle or use a bottled nutes to make up for any defs. When you learn what your strain likes you'll be able to adjust your soil mix accordingly and work from there.

Big ups to Matt Rize which is where 90% of my Veganic knowledge has come from you should check his thread out it's a long read but lots of great info peace for now and sorry bout the long ass post

For the tea you can aerate the Solution for 24 hours then dilute. Brew time depends on water temps. I was instructed by Matt that the kelp and fish aren't needed. O and i didn't amend my soil with anything but dolomite lime so I am currently using the full line but since I will be running a different soilmix next run I will only need the GO nutes to supplement my shortcomings in amendments.

And yellowing is natural when finishing don't freak out once flushed the plant changes colors. It's part of the finish process, if green still all u got is chlorophyll to make buds smell like hay. Just keep a check on ph.

Last two weeks yellowing is normal but I wouldn't tolerate very much before that tho an as long as you mix the lime into your soil the microbes and ph buffering capacity of the lime should keep ph in check all by itself. You may need to adjust ph mid flowering due the lime running out of gas. That plus if your using a peat based soil/soilless medium it will be acidic in nature add the acidic nutes we dump on the girls and it will tend to lead to a week 4 calcium def and ph fluctuations. This is my theory using the best of my knowledge. Just give your supersoil enough time to "cook" and activate the bennies.

@growsjahsgift> do u follow the feeding chart from the GO line ? Do you use all the products ie humic, bioweed, cal etc?? And do u use the subcultures?

Expand on "cook" please... Do u mean just sit? And by calcium def do u mean to much or too little....
Yeah man cook is basically just sitting in a warm temp doesn't have to be above room temp just not below freezing or anything extreme like hat lol you just pour in your water stir it up and let it sit for a week then mix it up some more keeps the bad bacteria at bay. And keeps some oxygen in the mix. Keep doing that till your ready to use it but if it could sit for 9 months it would be best but in reality a couple weeks should give the bacteria enough time to consume some of the food making the soil mix not as hot or potent if you will. And Ive been using the whole line using extra CalMag and biothrive bloom two things I found a little weak but like I said I'm running Promix with lime and that's it and for the mychos Im testing a product for my growshop called "biogold" it's an inoculant powder like the sub m and sub b just in the same container.

I used it twice and experienced a mag deficiency after the first three/four weeks of flowering. I won't be using Bio Thrive bloom again for that reason, however I will say that the Bio-Marine did increase smell and resin production on the plants that were fed it.

If you're not trying to produce a cash crop go for Bio Bizz, just use the grow and bloom use some fish meal every once and awhile, mix in peace of mind into your soil and reapply every month. No deficiencies on my end when I've used that scedule..

bio bizz looks nice but i think i am gonna just use the GO with 2-1 ratio of fox farm ocean forest - light warrior... and happy frog makes a tomato loving food... it has multiple kinds of "meals" >bone, fish, etc... I think i am going to mix a little of that into my soil. I am also very interested in the general hydroponics subculture M and B which i would like to use in my grow. However, it is easier for me to just order online that to go to my local store, and my local store has a mark up that has almost made me boycott the fucking asshole, but i am starting my new grow today and in 20 days i am going to flip to 12-12... in my last journal i waited till day 24 to flip and since im growing in a dr60 they got a little too big. so i am FIM'n them before the first set of 7 show ( i have found that with the strain i ggrow this fim spot gives 6 awesome colas) giving me apox ten days to train my canopy. and then ....and then..... nuggets... so hopefullly i cant get all the stuff i need before they just grow out of control haha. its not worth it to wait, they are weeds and they grow in dirt so no matter what they are gonna grow, i just wanna see what the difference is when i add more stuff cuz if i can grow better/have better smoke thats all i want to do.

johnyutah,

It sounds like you already have the GO line. However, since you asked - the reason to not use the GO line is because paying someone to market, package, and ship WATER to your door is against every principal of organic gardening.

GrowJahsGift brings up a couple good points, namely actively aerated compost tea and Matt Rize's vegan organics. AACT Requires: earthworm castings, compost, guano, kelp, molasses, powdered rock, and a bubbler. Use of these can be tailored to the plants needs and can produce a quality product in an otherwise, sterile medium.

To take it another step further, imagine the plant as a function of soil. The health and success of your plant is rooted in the health and success of your soil. This is because your soil is a living thing. Microbial activity relative to plant exuades is the premise of organic gardening. Feed your microbes, feed your plant.

There's lots of great info on the web; supersoil, living mulch, no till, fermented plant extracts, bokashi, DIY worm bins, etc. But the most important thing I have read pertaining to organic gardening, is Teaming With Microbes by Jeff Lowenfells and the Soil Food Web inc. It's loaded with real science from a fundamental perspective - a good read too.

All of this being said - the GO line will grow very successful plants. If it works for your situation, stick with it and show us the results - we would love to see what happens, success or failure.
