can topping create more males

I topped four of my plants and three have turned male. I have'nt had this high of a male to female ratio in the year that I have been growing .:evil: I experimented with root stim and had more males, now experimented with topping and the same. is it the added stress? Because I would give up the extra yield for reliable females. any help?:cry:

Stress usually make hermies not males, i think your just having bad luck. Lots of people top and fim and naver have problems. Root stims are a new deal but most of them are just phosphorus with something similar to h2o2 so the roots get high oxygen. Its prolly like P2O2. Also some contain yucca, which has no scientific evidence in plants but some anecdotal. Yucca has a chemical that stimulates mucus in humans, and so the anecdotal evidence is the same for plants roots.

I really dont see why either would lead to more males. The topping could lead to more herms though. Lamp

Yea i had one going once, topped it and it turned into the john holmes of mj plants, big healthy bastad. I really would have loved to have it around as a house plant but figured wasnt worth the risk. It had like 30 shouts on it and shaped like a bonzi. Needless to say it was like scarface met edward sizzor hands cuttin that fucka to shreads.

yeah probably bad luck . I'm just trying to find an answer. I'm getting sick of haulin males out of my flower room, i'm starting to feel like a bouncer at a lez bar. haha

HAHA, try putting bananas at the base of all the plants in veg. the ethylene gas that is emitted by bananas will help promote females. Change them out after they brown. Also 12/12 while they are seeds until they have true leaves will help the number of females. And finally you can also put your seeds in a bag with banana peels, the ethylene gas will help them decide to be females. Lamp

Pruning really doesnt stress plants, just a tiny bit. Stressed plants are really just plants in poor health or that have been shocked by rapid changes in temp or lighting, or water even excess nute burn. Lamp

Its not an urban myth. Ethylene does work look up a book call "Girls and boys come out and play: a study of diploid plant sex".... or something like that i will find the real title if you want. Its a scientific publication about plant sex, reversal and influence. It also uses the plan cannabis sativa in a few studies. and it clearly shows that ethylene and auxins are the hormones that stimulate female sex in cannabis. Since cannabis does NOT have a predetermined sex, it does not use the XY system, but the XA. Lamp

Please do i know that bananas arnt the best source a tank and regulater would be best, But it does work. Please check into it.

Ah, I thought we were talking about the gas generated from banana peels. An ethylene gas tank changes the playing field. Perhaps.

Also ainsworth could have been using bananas. We dont know the source of ethylene. Also ever heard on bad apple spoils the batch. This is b/c as fruits rippen they produce more and more ethylene. Eventually until they rot and will quickly rot the surrounding fruit. This is why fruit farmers pick unripe. Then when it gets to market they spray with ethylene to make them rippen. So fruits produce enough on there own to rippen i imagine that its enough to influence sex. Just like CO2 though you would need to stop circulation for a while. Lamp
