Can we please have a LED sub-forum setup as we have for CLS's?

Well LEDs are advancing much the way the computer started or LCD TV's. Big bucks and are they worth it. The new wave of Leds third generation are showing some promiss. They are using 5 watt leds now in the good ones and blending the colours to work better. I think I will keep my money for another 8 to 12 months so see how it shakes out.

Peace

Remember the old grow tubes, than T12 and now T5 and soon T1. Took about 5 years to get there.
Yes they are improving and showing good results. Induction lamps are good also. I sell custom LEDs in 1W, 2W and 3W diode in Quad band and Penta(5) band. I have some great pics in my gallery. There are many benefits such as low chance of IR detection or fire and lower hydro comsumption. Check out the pics here: http://www.advanced-hydroponics.ca/gallery.php :leaf:

well i think that proves it really lol theres sum well nice plants there growlights how much did all that set up cost though? i want to get sum leds for lower branches but be useing them with a 600w hps.. and good luck krozone il be keeping an eye on this one see if they really work im not agenst leds or anythin if i had the money to buy them i would i mean 50000hours of use sounds good to me never having to buy anything for ages works out like 3years dont it or somthing lol but good luck..

I think there should be an LED thread to the forums too. Everybody wants to bash them without any previous knowledge. Give growers their own forum where they can post their own results and then maybe people can start making more informed judgements. I think we're right on the cusp of LED lighting be an efficient and viable way for growers to light their gardens. At a rating of 70,000 hours of life in LED's, if ran everyday for 12 hours, they would last you about 11 years. In 11 years you will probably save your money with the LED grow light in replacement bulbs alone. That doesn't account for the electricity saved from not having to use a power hungry HPS, the energy used to power the ballast, or the energy used to power the fans that you have to use to cool your lights and room. Don't get me wrong the start up cost is ENORMOUS and for most growers completely out of the question. I've also never actually used LED lighting either. I'm not saying it is better than an HPS or Metal Halide but there are definite benefits. Maybe if there was a forum directly for the use of LED lighting people would be able to check out real grows with them and be able to talk without talking out of their asses.

I just wasted 150 dollars and 2 months on a glow panel 45 led grow when I could've gotten an hps or even big cfl's and been sitting high on the hog right now. It was and still is very dissapointing.
$150 won't buy you much of an LED set up. Sounds like you got screwed and bought junk. Sorry you had a bad experience.

Hi JACQO

50,000 hours is over 5 years. But no manufacturer warranty is 5 years. I have tweaked out my lights to the best possible ratio now. I recommend the 3W diode models for main flowering lights and the 1W diode models for small grows, veg and supplimental lighting. There are only 4 peak spectrums in photosynthesis and they are 660nm/630nm/460nm/420nm. White and orange diodes are not as efficent and therefore I have removed them from all future models. The main thing is the ratio of those diodes must be as close as possible to natural sunlight. I am bringing in a test model of my new 5 band which will run 670nm/660nm/630nm/460nm/420nm at my new custom ratio. I have a MMJ patient who is setting up with my new Triband in Cali and we will be documenting the whole system on my website. 420nm diodes are very expensive, but help to enhance trichome production and penitration, as blue light travels farther than red. You can view some decent LED grows on youtube or at my website here: http://www.advanced-hydroponics.ca/led-grows.php . Do not listen to those who say LED don't work. There is lots of proof now a days!

I, too, want more info on LEDs. I can't use the power or have the heat of HPS or MH setups because of the need for super stealth, keeping everything secret from my wife. It doesn't bother her that I consume, but growing is a completely different animal. My consumption is only 3.5 grams every 1.5 weeks, so lighter crops and smaller buds aren't a problem . . . but I do want premium quality. The way I figure, it is less risky (and costly) for me to become self sufficient with a small setup than it is to drive to a dealer's house and back home with the red eyes that go along with burning one with him, not to mention saving $150 / month. If I can grow 1/4 - 1/2 lb annually with LEDs and get the quality I desire, then more info on an LED grow is always helpful. I got nothing to prove by huge plants and gigantic buds. Is it possible to get the THC % up without the bud size and total yield that is possible with more traditional lights?

when i first joined the site i wished there was a t5 sub forum, so i know where the op is coming from. what i think they should do is change the cfl forum to just floros so it could cover all types of floro lighting, and an led forum i think would be a good idea. just based on what i've seen in journals and such i don't think leds are quite there yet, but there is no denying they are gaining popularity and there will in fact come a point where they will be an affordable way to produce good smoke. we are a part of a community that could either make or break that industry, and i think we all owe it to ourselves to make sure there is a place to really discuss the nitty gritty of it all. i mean plenty of people hate on cfls but i'm sure cfl growers are grateful to have a place to discuss things.

I have started a new forum at my website just for LED growing and Induction growing. All are welcome to join. It seems many forums wish not to discuss LED or Induction growing, so I have acted upon this. This forum is for development and not debate, so if you are a bad mouth, don't go there, as you will be kicked out immediately, no questions asked!

I have been using LED'S for my last 3 grows.
They are great for veg. Cycle but with added light can do well.
I have mixed up my LED'S with "envirotech's" induction lighting.
This is a wonderful mixture.
I use 300watt induction with a 300watt LED.
I also use LED for all my clones.
I used to use only hps,and other hid lights.
Working on trying out scrog for my next grow.
My last grows were only with 4 plants, but got 8 ounces per grow.
Once I have the system fine tuned I beleive it can be even better.
Any questions, I will be glad to answer.
I don't recomend haze grows unless you have room, I had to do alot of bending.

if you want the advantages of energy savings and high lumens per watt as well as PAR that peaks at 300 and 700 nanometers for both veg and bud without the heat of HPS and penetration of 30" depending on the fixture with yields in the 300 gr/p/meter range then open your eyes to a grow light system that does ALL of that. If you've never heard of induction grow lights ck out the utube video on indagro. These fixtures are astonishing. NASA has said it's the lamp they will use when they coloinze the moon.
