Can we use HPS only w/ some grow bulbs

Can you use a HPS through the whole grow cycle with decent results? Or would it help to throw a couple of MH bulbs(not the hood fixture, just bulbs)during veg.? Don't plan growning more than 4-5 plants. Thanks,

If cash restricts ya then yes you can use HPS thru the whole gig...It's just that you have alot more stretching then you would with MH. If you don't have the cash to buy a whole new system then try picking up a really good HPS bulb. Depending on the wattage will determine how close you can put your light to the plants so they dont stretch as much. If you vent your hood you can get your lights right down on top of the plants and then your good to go. A little node piching will help ya also, but it slows the grow process down because the plants have to repair.......

I have successfully grown a complete cycle using only HPS for veg and flower.

This is a part of my grow.

I must admit that i am getting an MH bulb for veg time next cycle as i want to see the difference in the results myself.

But it is definately do-able if thats all that you have.

I did however have a 24w 6400k 18" T5 flouro for my propagation and the first week of veg.

But other than that its all been using a 600w HPS.

I used a 400w HPS all the way for my first grow. My second grow, I used a MH conversion bulb. Plants seemed to like it.
