Ey whitey, nimbliez - dont take any of this the wrong way. if ur a christian and u honestly wake up happy most days, great for you. ur doing better than alot of people and if it aint broke dont fix it, u know?
But
believing such a far-fetched idea from a 20-century-old book (translated, reiterated and edited countless times) is ridiculous. the only way i could imagine buying into this is if i never took the time to question it.
its almost like a big practical joke. "believe this or ur gonna be sorry!" its just a ploy to get u to act a certain way. the base of any monotheist religion is pretty much the same in all sects:
1-God made you. 2-be nice.
but after that, stuff changes to better relate to its intended reader. historically, political leaders have alwase had control of how the story was told, so many have taken advantage of the holy media to mold society.
all god-fearing people are either naive or cowardly. some people believe in a god simply because thats what they were told. out of shear gullibility, they never think of what it would imply if the Lord never was. others choose to follow the faith blindly, in fear of what may happen to themselves otherwise. it is cowardly to live a life of fear, rather than happiness.
'if u believe, youll go to heaven.' alot of people call themselves chrsistian, but they dont really follow the scriptures of any specific Holy Bible. they just say that theyve been "saved" by jesus to hopefully reap benefits. these folks are weaklings. using this crutch to alleviate the feelings of loneliness, hopelessness, fear, anger, etc is unfair. its unfair for any honest, strong person (possibly including yourself) that u expose this lie to.
like i said before, do what u want. if u are truly happy, no one has the right to say what ur doing is wrong. but it is illogical. if it didnt have such a long tradition, christianity would be considered a paranoid delusion by doctors.
