Can you cut roots?

A couple of days ago I had some mild root rot. My res temps got too high.
The roots turned brown but there was no smell or slime.

I was just wondering if I should cut off the brown roots or leave them?
There is new growth coming out of the bottom of the brown root mass and its a nice white. Also there is tons of new roots growing from all around the net pot.
I just dont want to have a bunch of new roots grow then have them get infected by the other brown roots.
what should I do just leave it alone or cut them? plus my ph keeps rising have to keep lowering it 2 times a day. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It's perfectly okay to cut the brown roots. Diseased roots generally do not recover and regenerate. I like to hold them over the sink and spray them real well until most of the dead stuff falls off on it's own. I personally like to spray them down with some 3% h202 at this point which helps slough off dead stuff. Rinse some more. Then I trim away the worst roots that still remain, being very careful not to damage the new white growth. Trim away as much dead/dying stuff as you can but don't go overboard. If your res temps are under control, you have plenty of bubbles, and no organic material in the res, then your plants should recover no problem.

u can prune roots brown or white... it perfectly fine... im not saying chop them all off but if u need more root room, cut sum off... its sugested when transplanting

I dunno if the brown roots are dead tho. I think they may still be alive because there is new white root growth.
