can you put a window AC unite in a closed room ?

I believe all a/c units must have an exhaust. I bought a "portable" a/c unit, which said nothing about any exhaust, but when I bought the stupid thing, it came with this whole vent and duct thingy. I guess you really dont need one, but it would be counter productive to exhaust the heat in the same area where it is blowingt cool air

The mini split style AC units are two pieces. You have the main base unit which typically sits outside, just like a large central air conditioner. It's connected to the cooler which you place inside. That's a pretty good deal, I was considering one a few months back but didn't see any under $1200 or so.

You wouldn't want a window unit just venting into your room, you'd be pumping enough hot air into the room to cancel out the benefit of the cool air. For AC go with a portable unit that you can duct the exhaust out of the room, or a mini split like the one you found on ebay.

a split system like that doesn't exhaust any air. it is a heat transfer system, the heat is absorbed by the freon and transfered to the outside unit,then removed by condensor. It is the BEST way to control your enviroment. and ebay has some for as low as $650 that include EVERYTHING need to hook it up, AND it's easy enough to do yourself.

a dual hose portable is your best bet, single hose portables use room air to pull over the coil to cool it, this means you get odor exhausted from the room to wherever you run the exhaust, dual hose units pull air from outside the room to cool coils therefore they don't exhaust room air and no odor. I didnt know this until after i purchased a single hose unit and was well into flower, luckily i exhaust in to my garage and its pretty much closed off so no odor was apparent unless you were in the garage. I posted about this and had one guy explain to me that you can actually take a single hose unit and convert it to dual hose(google it) . Also if you run co2 with a single hose unit you pump co2 out of the room.

being in the a/c business for almost 20 years, I have tried those in server rooms and usually have to come back 2 months later to install a ductless unit. Plus you don't have to constantly empty the water with a ductless, and there is NO exhaust what so ever. PERFECT for a sealed room.

Being in the hvac biz myself for about the same time I can say that a portable works just fine and is less expensive to install/maintain and with mine I haven't had to drain any water whatsoever.
This all of course depends on your variables.

not to much difference there to have to have another thing taking up space in my room.

No sir, no drain. I think the unit I have has some feature that uses any condensation some way or another, I forget the details but I know a guy with an older unit that has required 0 draining also.
