can you run a can fan pointing up

Right now I (and from any other picture I've ever seen) and everyone else runs their exhaust / filter fan horizontally and then duct up and out of the space. Is there any one out there running their fan pointed straight up? Not sure if there would be a harder load on the motor or if these fans are designed to do such.

i guess my question really didnt matter. people use their fan horizontally all the time. i see them alot scrubbing their air..should be fine.

I know this =) I want to know if there is any performance loss by using it vertically at the ceiling.

pushing air up is always harder than pushing it down no? gravity makes it harder i would think yes?

I run my flower room fan that wat. 800cfm fan with a variable speed controller sitting on top of a carbon filter. Works just fine !!!

The difference in air movement due to gravity is negligible unless you're talking about running a few thousand sqft of fans pointing upward lol. Keep in mind we're growing MJ here, not trying to get to the moon. Gravity is almost a non-factor.
