Can you slow growth but still have healthy plants?

I got into this thinking it would grow a little faster then it has. I guess noobs such as myself don't grow plants nearly as fast as the pros. I now face a problem. I am going away for work for 4 months, can't have full grown plants at this site. I also would prefer not to restart when I get back, because, as I said my growing is slow. I'm on 10 days since my sprout came up and it is just getting its second set of leaves now.


Basically what I'm asking is. I bought a 2x2x4 grow tent. If I take this plant with me is there a way I can get it to stay within that size until I get back home and then get it to resume its faster rate of growing.

I know you can do it with some plants by changing lighting and stuff.

LAST MINUTE THOUGHT: How behind is my plant being 10days since it came above the rockwool and just getting its second set of leaves.

keeping a plant vegging for 4 months and below 4' will be very difficult... your best bet will be getting a very low wattage CFL, these will keep a plant alive while not really allowing much growth. Brush up on topping and LSTing, this will keep the plant a more manageable size and you could be left with something very nice at the end of it.

*hard to say whether after 10 days whether thats right, what light are you using currently? doesnt seem far off anyway.

Using 1 coolwhite 3foot fluro bulb. (T5)

Going to add that my entire setup is non soil. Might switch to soil to learn then back to my hydro setup someday.

just keep trimming and topping until your ready to flower perpetual groweres or if they have mother plants deal with long veg times and that is what they do. just a reminder you can clone what you cut off.

Thanks for all the good tips. However I woke up with morning with a different issue. 3 of my little plants are tipped right over on a 90 degree angle at ground level.

My thoughts, this girl at a shop near my place said that I should let my cube dry out from time to time. She said it's good for the roots. So I let it dry out mostly. I hope that is what happened. So I re watered the plant and stood it up and stabalised with a a few toothpicks and a rope.

You guys ever have this problem? And is the plant dead? Will it recoop?
