Can You Tell the Sex Before Actually "Sexing"?

ive always wondered this. i noticed before my mother plant got big that it was sparkly becuz of the crystals on the leaves. i took better care of this plant thinking it was a female, it had certain smell too, i would rub the leaves and they felt sticky then i would smell my fingers and it had that fresh marijuana smell and later i was right after sexing it. ive noticed this with my new biggest plant and it has always had a real skunky smell to it so i figured it was female, ive now noticed it having crystals on the leaves, and that same stickiness, so i figure again that its a female, havent sexed it yet tho.

any suggestions or tips???

well iv had a male that smelt like bud and was sticky i also thought it was female at first but nope

just wait to see them 2 pistols shot out and prey to god they do.. that all ya can do bro,,and start pulling any with nuts....male plants stink smell and get sticky,,,and give you one wicked head ache.

you can some times look at node spacing - if the plant has even branch development on both sides like the letter Y then that is a good sign. some times males rush to grow and flower fast and tend to have wonky or un even node spacing, usually one branch a few mm above it opposite side. so fast, uneven growth can SOMETIMES be indicative of a male. but it is not a rule.

shitty i was hopeing on something simple like what i had mentioned or the node spacing, fuck i hope my second biggest is female that one is sexy, big leaves, evenly spaced nodes, a nice looking plant n e ways.

and if your not sexing any of them they cant effect eachother right?

a couple quick questions:

my warm bulb (mentioned above) is a "base up" bulb, but i have it set up in a horizontal ballast, what does this cause? or what is the problem with this?

and can you "wind burn" ur plants (i think thats the term used) my grow room is hot so i always have to have a fan blowing cold air from the other room to the fan at the entrance of my grow room then a fan at the back of the grow room (tarped enclosure of a part of the room) blowing the warm air out of the tent so it creates an air flow, during the night (lights shut off at 2am and turn on at 8am) the grow room/tent whatever is ok i can turn the fan off for about 10 minutes then i put it back on cuz it still gets up to like 85.. but like i said if i dont have the fan on during the day the temp. can get to like 93. ( im using 2 mh ballasts, one base up and one horizontal mh/hps ballast, both 400watts, one has a warm bulb becuz i dont have another cold bulb and the base up ballast has a white light "Sylvania" brand)

the males seem to gro faster and stronger and get taller... and smell more from wut ppl have said, and everytime i had a great looking plant
