Can you use a 400 watt bulb in a 600 watt dimmable ballast?

I tied down the side branches and opened up the center of the plant and now the the tops of the branches are lower now. What are your thoughts on bending the top down , 3 weeks into flower on a plant that has not been topped, just bending down the main center bud?

I was considering that, but I would hate to make it worse. If I flatten it out will it get rid of the hotspots? Thanks
It will reduce hotspots yes.

It would only be possible to make it worse in looks, and how it focuses light down evenly in the same spread it originally did. But that's not really what you want it to be doing so it should only help you.

It's no problem at all

How about removing the reflector all together, if I can manage to remove it?

I will try to straighten the reflector evenly if I do bend it

At that point it may just be easier to buy a bare socket. Loads of people run without reflectors, I think it's only 25$ for the socket.

Running just the bare bulb opens up new options and can be a super effective way of growing. Head over to the vertical growing forums to see some crazy shit

I may have solved or at least marginally corrected things. I turned the reflector around and was able to push it to the far wall of tent and I got the plant out from underneath the light, The way it was set up before the reflector was hung dead center on the top bar and the plant was directly underneath it and the hot spots from the edges of the reflector were shining down on certain spots of the leaves that hung out underneath it. Now the plant is against the opposite wall, facing the light, not underneath it.. Wish me luck, I hope it works. If not, I will open up the spread on the aluminum. I may try the vertical bare bulb when I get a larger tent. Thanks again
