can you use liquid oxygen in a soil mix

Anyone else check this thread just to see if someone was nuting with real liquid oxygen to see if it stimulated growth? Could tame the heat from a HPS too :D

But seriously man, I dont use HO2 in soil becuase I assume it fucks with my little ecology in there. Iv heard ppl conjecture it takes out the bad stuff and leaves the good bacteria unharmed but I dont buy it. The only reason I would use hydrogen peroxide in soil is in resonse to a major problem such as fungal infestation or root rot.

Dont suggest it my man, I am biology major at UT, and did some research. Most liquid oxygen formulas contain a pretty good amount of hydrogen peroxide. Now a little of this stuff will help clean out some bad bacteria in your rockwool or growing medium, however a lot can have a nasty effect damaging the good bacteria that coats the roots and helps dissolve nutrients. However, it is a damn good idea. What were you trying to accomplish by adding liquid oxygen might I ask?

I use 1000 ppm H2O2 with soil (not hydro except in some experiments I have going on such as a H2O2 DWC). The advantage is that there is no over watering issues which is actually an under oxengenation issue. Using the H2O2 with hydro fertilizers (General Hydroponics pH 6.5) allows me to water the plants every day getting hydroponic performance in soil. In essence, the soil plants act as an ebb and flo hydro system and the roots remain very healthy. I can pull 4 oz per month off a 270 watt HPS using this system which is about on par with an efficient hydro system (about .8 gram/watt range).

I don't rely on any bacterial action and the nutrients are pre-dissolved in the solution so those two points are non-issues in this system.

The cheapest way to go is to get a gallon of 35% food grade H2O2 and it's a good idea to have a working dilution of 3% for safety reasons.

Tech why use soil at all? Sounds like youve got a working nute regimen. The bacteria and organic benefits of soil are why I use it as a medium, woulnt you get even better results in hydroton?

The reason I actually use soil is the high moisture retention. I can 3 days without watering so I'm covered if I have to leave a few days camping etc. But by measuring how fast that the plants consume the nutrient solution, it was obvious that pot can be watered/fertilized every day. I doubt that the Hydroton pellets would perform any better but that's just speculation.

To me it's the perfect medium for something that's essentialy hydro, it's quiet, the medium is avaliable everywhere (I just use seedling soil), it's cheap and the soil are highly oxeygenated as in a hydro system giving similar performance.

Hi Guys

I went from DWC back to soil and I still have a load of h202 left... I have the 17.5% liquid oxygen, can anyone recommend how much I should put into say 10 litres of nutrient solution? I forgot to top up the perlite when I re-used the soil and it is slightly saturated, could do with an oxygen increase and I like the idea of being able keep the plant watered and oxygenated..

Anyone?
