Can You Use Mirrors?

I should have been more clear. I wasn't speaking of heat transfer but rather a concentration of light. In any regard, I would think mirrors would be too cumbersome and a hassle for the average grower. Just an opinion, as I've never used mirrors for more than peeking up skirts

I want the facts, just spouting off some quantum mechanics that I don't fully understand and a quote from someone I've never heard of didn't really make a whole lot of sense and I can't see what point your trying advocate.
Infact I can't honestly tell whether you're for or against the idea of using a mirror. But maybe I'm just a full on retard?

Yeah purely because if someone is arguing a point that contradicts what everyone else says, then I'd like to hear what grounds they have to support their argument. For example, personal experience and science.

If I even knew about quantum mechanics or russian aerospace engineers why would I start this thread? Maybe because I know nothing about it and I want to learn? It seems you don't really like noobs asking questions by your sarcastic comment so I'll try to refrain from it in the future.

If you want to learn about mirrors use of light why not read a study instead of throwing a question out to a bunch of people who are going to defend their opinion right or wrong. That is not learning. That is asking for opinions. And really in the long run our opinions dont mean shit compared to a guy that probably did nothing but studied mirrors throughout his whole career.

Listen dont get me wrong. I will argue any point that sounds silly to me on here because ignorance is rampant on this site. I am not here saying Fly has not used mirrors succesfully or that he is not a good grower. He likes to argue and I like to argue. That is how facts are born. Maybe Fly is the smartest dude in the world or maybe he is an idiot that got lucky with a mirror. I dont know the dude. All I am saying is ignorance is here in full force and we perpetuate it every day on this site with bad info and that is why I argue. You are much more aware of possiblities of a mirror because Fly and I chose to argue so dont look at it as a bad thing. If you truly want to learn you will and it most likely wont be because evryone agreed the first time.

Bigv is on the right track. Photons are absorbed then re-emitted. Much of its wavelengths are lost in the exchange. Vanity Mirrors are designed to reflect 'visible' light. What the human eye see's. Plants see things differently and on a much broader spectrum. Looking mostly for the far left and far right areas of the spectrum, what they use most. Whats in the middle is not all that usefull for MJ plant. Take the pic on the left and bounce it off of a mirror and the reflection would be the pic on the right.View attachment 1226502 View attachment 1226501 Pretty basic but pretty much the way it is. Yes there are 'specialized' mirrors that probaly would work. But I doubt any of us have access too such mirrors. Doubt the hotspot if you like. Often times what seem to be flat is not always flat at all. Twisted, leaned, reflecting off another mirror. Hotspots do happen. Not a given but most certainly happen. Flat white or some say titanium white is the best reflector for indoor gardens. Mylar being next.
