Can you veg for too long?

My plants seem to be growing really slowly, 48 days veg and the tallest one is around 10 inches. Some of them are bushy from being topped, but not nearly enough for 48 days. They look completely healthy and are doing fine except for their slow growth. The humidity is always around 30-40% and the temp is generally 62-67 so I don't think its that. The strains are bob ross, white widow (unknown origin), and some kind that is only abbreviated as HG but is supposed to be a 100% sativa. Could it be because of me being scarce with giving them nutes? I know they aren't rootbound yet, though i do plan on switching them over to their final 5 gallon buckets soon (they are in 3 gallon pots right now). I'm using CFL's but my lights are surely close enough and reaching 99% of all plants. Is a long veg period like this normal? I'm expecting probably 60-65 days of veg right now, hoping that they will gain a few inches. Thanks for any and all feedback!

Temps could be a little higher, that COULD be the issue. Although that is not a guarantee.
What type of soil, nutrients, etc.

My first guess would be temps, at those temps it means your night time temps must be below 60* which is not good at all for good growth if it grows at all.
Second guess would be the lights, what type of CFLs, how far from the plants? CFLs NEED to be within 2 inches of the plant, the closer the better.
Third guess would be bad genetics.

You can never veg a plant for too long to answer the title of the thread though. As long as they have room for the roots to continue to grow and you have no height restrictions you can literally veg a plant for years.

yeah I would second Medicated and say temps. Can't expect much from cfl's either though. Dont be expecting to get what you see from ppl with HID's..just wont happen

Ive had quite a few horror stories of vegging plants way past their own good...currently flowering 11 of them now :/...a ton of wasted bud sites, time, energy etc

Cfl will work fine depending on the watts.

48 days they should be huge, what kind of soil ?

Yea it gotta be ur temps. I doubt cfls are the issue because thats what i use. Stay with the 100 watt equivs(26watt) energy saver joints. Then i have t8s overhead.

There isn't much I can do about temp's for about a week or two, i have the lights off during the day 9a.m-3p.m, and at night it doesn't get colder than 60 degrees. I just wouldn't of thought the temps would slow growth this much, they don't look too far behind but they do seem to be severely lacking in height. If your topping the plants constantly, its not going to grow as tall. Im at day 37 of veg, i FIMd my tallest one last week and its at 11 inches today.

If you wanna see more growth, give it some extra nitrogen. Im using DynaGrow 5/9/7 as directed but adding a 8/0/0 nitrogen boost. I add more and more nitrogen until i see a smidge of nute burn, then i back off. Im getting an inch a day on the FIMd one.

Agree on temps, 75 during the day at least.

Other than that, just keep goin man. They are stunted slightly, fix the temps, add a little nitrogen and theyll explode all over ur face.

Just use the "bending" method and just feed water now and "n" could cause toxicity Also but "n" is not needed in flower stage just P & K

I've been done with high stress straining for two weeks except for two i recently supercropped so I would have them back to good for flower. Branching on high and low stress trained plants is excellent, a significant difference from the natural ladies. I'm using promix soil, with espoma plant tone to feed. I might try giving one or two of them a little nitrogen boost or something to see how they handle it. They might surprise me in flower too i suppose, they could be turds OR triple in size and yield a decent product, i'll just have to wait and see! ALSO could it help keeping them on a 24 hour light schedule until flower just so they stay as warm as possible? I can't really do much to adjust temp right now but the foliage all looks nice and healthy and there IS preflowers on two and maybe more of them, so at least i have that going for me lol

time to buy a better light ? I use t5 cfl they veg very slow. like an inch a week or so . and veg with a mh I get an inch a day ! but its so bight just like being out side in the direct sun light . mabe your lights are not just bright enough . right now im veg them at a temp of 65 to 70 f. but still getting an inch a day. if I got the temp to 90f I could get a lot more mabe 2 inches a day. odds are the light is just not bright, if its from a 2 inch clone in 30 days that plant should be min 2 feet tall . or more. depending on your set up . experience. co2 so on.

I'm able to control temps now but to a point, would 65-68 be closer to ideal? On colder days with the lights off temps got to around 57 so i knew there was gonna be a problem there but i didn't imagine such a growth stunt in height. And could I take a clone off one of these ladies and start it on 12/12 with the rest of the plants in a week or two?
