Hey guys, I would like to introduce myself from the great white north. My first ever grow, started because im cheap and this will cut the cost of blazing every day to a minimum and lose all the hassle of having to contact people to pick up. Ill cut the life story short and get right to the log.

I got lucky with a good neighbor in my recent first home purchase and he gave me a clone, which I planted outside with no real knowledge or real care honesty other than a good sunny location, fresh garden soil and water daily. I did alot of research since planting it a month ago. I built a dedicated veg cabinet from a cabinet I got from the thrift store for $5, modded quite a few things on it, weather stripping, new hinges, flat white paint, exhaust vent and computer fan. Cut and bent a street sign for a make shift reflector, painted white and wired with 3 sockets so i can Y split each to run 6 bulbs

I took 5 clones off of the outdoor plant, just for fun really and a first attempt, dipped in rooting powder and planted in my medium of coco coir and 25% perlite in solo cups, planted August 7th, right away I was concerned with wilting. Anyways, those have a week or two to hopefully turn out in the veg box under a single 23w 6500k cfl. Now onto the main part of the grow.

Im only growing personal, so Im thinking of 2 plants to start, but going for big yields. I purchased a 2x4x5' tent as Im limited in height in the area the wife will allow this whole setup (finished loft), 1 gallon and 5 gallon smart pots, growing medium will be coco coir and perlite. My lighting came as a blessing, basically free, I will be running (7) T5 dual bulb fixtures, they run 36" bulbs, so I can run 14 bulbs, if I run 21w bulbs (3000/3500k) thats 294watts, or if I run the 39w bulbs (4100k) thats 564 watts (I have alot of both, need advice on this). I bought the General Hydroponics Flora series for nutrients, aswell as there CalMag supplement. Ive also got a 6" duct inline fan and a speed controller, I temp wired these to test and the fan can move alot of air (300cfm) but the controller is a very nice piece and can basically turn the fan down to almost nothing so i will have to dial that in based on temps.

As of today, Aug12th, 5 days after planting the clones, I woke up to them very wilted, the one plant still severly curling and turning yellow, I dont think that one will make it, this week was the hottest week of my entire life and the loft got up to 90*, so this morning I moved the clones to a non direct sunlight spot in the house, see if they perk up.

I have orderred 5 Northern Lights fem seeds from Nirvana, hopefully they show up anyday, but Ill see where these clones go for now, I would hope to have better success starting from seeds, and the 10 free bonus seeds they say they include could be fun aswell.

Im hoping to get some advice on the bulbs to run in the large tent, I need to buy some 6500k bulbs to further veg and grow the plants once I transfer from the veg cabinet to the big tent, but for flower I have the option of 21w 3000 and 3500k bulbs, or 39w 4100k bulbs. I feel the 39w are much more wattage but obviously not the optimal spectrum, maybe mix and match? Maybe not run the 4100's at all, Im open to advice.

Since I have a little time before the big tent is in use, I will get to work building a large reflector to hold all the fixtures, painted flat white, easy clean wiring, easy height adjustments as i will have to adjust the relector daily Im sure to maintain a good height as the plants grow. Im not positive how the intake works on these tents, it has some flaps on the bottom, but it lets light in... how is that avoided without obvious bends outside of the tent or bends inside that take up valuable space?

Anyways, this is the start of a LONG journey, hope to hear from some fellow tokers and enthusiasts and gain knowledge along the way

Try making a humidity dome for the clones next time, or ind sangwich bags for solo cups for the first week. It helps for me.

I guess i could take smaller cones, but the ones i took this time were far to big for sandwich bags, would have constricted the leaves

You will see many people trim the outer edges of the leaves on clones. There's debate as to why but what does make sense ( to me anyway) is that the cutting has to switch from leaf growth to root growth and too much leaf material inhibits this.
Anyway you don't have to worry about the leaves at first. So you can trim them back. You'll kno when they root as you'll begin to see new green growth.
