Canadian pot companies came up way short on sales expectations. So what happened?

I was refused reconstructive surgery on my face after a car accident because it was considered 'cosmetic' and I was not female. Not a word of a lie, I was told if I were a woman it would have been deemed a medical need. I have had 4 operations to repair my eye and cheek in the 30+ years since, as it droops severely. I was also denied surgery for a severed acl from the same accident because I was not an athlete. That decision lead to numerous knee surgeries to remove torn (and eventually all) of my cartilage and I now have end-stage osteoarthritis largely because the acl was not reattached in 1987. I was told I needed a knee replacement when I was 47, but would not be eligible to go on a wait list until I was 65. That was about the time I quit going to doctors and tore up my health card.
That is absolutely fucked up.

You were excluded from health care services based on sex and occupation? Ever thought of suing on grounds they broke your charter rights or human rights? Health care is a human right, and discrimination of that sort is wrong according to Canadian law.
I'd have to prove it was not simply a medical decision based on a doctor's opinion. I was 23 and stupid so I went along with what the 'professionals' said. Nobody is taking a discrimination case seriously when it's coming from a straight white guy with little money. Not worth the time or frustration.

Thanks, but no thanks! The next doctor that examines me will be the one signing my exit papers. The time to fix it was when I was still working full time and raising a family. I chose to live with the pain and mobility issues than to ever have to talk to a doctor again. Autonomy over ones health is actually quite liberating.

It's much worse than that. I read years ago that the law is such in Canada that it's nearly impossible to sue a doctor for malpractice. The complainant is held responsible for the doctor's legal bills in the event that the judge sides with the doctor. So, according to the article, the Canadian College of Medicine ensures the legal bill is large in order to discourage any other would be victims.

Canada hasn't had a progressive government in decades, and that was only in name. ;-)

Incrementalism is not very progressive.

Drowning the voices of our First Nations people is not very progressive either.

If anything, at least get bloodwork done to screen for cancer and other illnesses. There are lots of people who would like you to stick around for as long as possible.

My neighbor suddenly died a couple of months ago. I think it was suicide since she was younger than me. Such a nice lady. Our dogs played together a few times. I wish I had told her how much I appreciated our chats. It felt good knowing she'd be in her backyard with her dog to say hi after I had another stressful day at work. Long story short, you're never truly alone. Someone appreciates you. Try to stick around.

I don't have a death wish, just a major distrust of the medical incompetents. I do quite well taking care of myself without the frustration of doctors or the side effects of pharmaceuticals. The story I shared was just the culmination of a lifetime of mistreatment by doctors. I have no filter when it comes to someone who thinks they are superior to me, so putting me in the same room with one isn't a great idea - I'm allergic to jail. None of us gets out alive, and if I have cancer or some shit, I don't want to know. I'm good with my decision and if the family isn't, they need the help, not me.

And? Do I need to put up the picture of a baby seal being clubbed for you to get your comment says more about you as a person than Korea as a nation?

Besides, how do you think your burger got on your plate? A cow wilfully donated parts of its flesh to feed you and now it lives happily on a farm in a far away place that nobody seems to know?

Still believe in Santa as well?

Its how we roll dumbass if eating loosers you'd be first on the list.. grow a pair ....munch on yer corn pumpkin pie shit

I disagree...I can and have gone weeks without talking to anyone...I was sick, no one calls...very easy to be alone.

I stay away from certain people and conflict in general. I can defend myself very well, but I'm too claustrophobic for jail. That's the deterent for me.
