I have heard a lot of different things. I am having the same problem.

I know that when the Liberals were in power they changed it to under three plants for non traficking purposes being only a $500 dollar fine.

But the Harper administration proposed a different bill which would make a manditory jail sentence for any cultivation. I also know it being a minority government meaning they would need another party to back em up on this decision unfortunately I cant find any info if it went through.

I would really like to know as well because well I don't feel I should go to jail and get a criminal record for growing one tiny, albeit beautiful plant for personal consumption.

Anything the liberals tried regarding decriminalization is irrelevent today.. Anything Harper wants is not in action today.. Many judges are tossing possesion cases out, citing the cases and constitutional issues I'm sure you've read about.. This does nothing to revise the criminal code whatsoever though.. Your active legislation is in the CDSA.. http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/C-38.8/index.html?noCookie

Just treat it as if the laws are severe.. If you don't, you'll get sloppy and get caught..
Besides, a criminal record eats into a hell of alot of job opportunities these days..

yeah youre right. what i do sometiems is i think of 1984 by orwell. they can see you, hear you, always. you gotta have your shit packed tight to get away with it. and if its all good and your not doing anything wrong. god/karma/the universe/etc will take care of you as long as you hold up your end of the bargain

It is like 1984.. Right down to the the stupidity, and the utter lies regarding the enforcement..
You don't want the Ministry of Truth to come in and declare your closet to be a half million dollar threat to the community..:)

Go to media awareness project or just to a government site and look under the controlled substances act. You will see all the penalties and for what. Bill c-15 which has the proposed mandatory minimiums is not passed yet and the NDP and Liberals are both rejecting it so it will prob not pass. I would say more than a slap on the wrist but if you dont have a scale or a lot of baggies im sure 3 plants wont be a trafficking charge or any kind of organized crime. I would watch out for having 7 though. Cops see each plant as $1000 cash so to them 7 plants is $7000 , even if one is a clone so im sure you would get a trafficking charge. But ya google the controlled substances act in canada and you should find what you are looking for. Good luck and happy growing!!!!!!!!!

LOL! though i wouldnt be very much surprised if they did. hopefully they dont have rats tho.

Dont be dumb and you should be fine. 1-5 plants will not get you in much trouble. Of course depends on them fucked up winnipeg police. If you have priors I would rethink.

The law states that it is illegal to have ANY marijuana in your possession, but with that said, the court would probably throw it or charge you with a fine.
This law dates back 25 years, the court is more interested in LARG grow ops then the little guy. Then again it is up to the judge and how he/ she feels that day, the minimum can be 6 month in jail to 5 years in jail.
From 6 to 200 plants can be 1 year to as much as 7 year sentence. I just read this that's how I know

Is possession of marijuana a criminal offense?
Yes. Possession of marijuana is a criminal offense under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (available at laws.justice.gc.ca - click on “English”, then on “Consolidated Acts”, then on “C”, and then scroll down to the Act). You don’t have to own the marijuana – you just have to have, or possess, it. There are medical exceptions. If you are charged with possession of marijuana, you should speak to a lawyer.

I hope this helps.
