Quick question about popping seeds in those plugs. How do you know which way the seed is going in, if the tap roots not out. Or do you wait until you see the tap root then insert the seed. Better yet can you just go over your germination process lol. I just put my seeds in my tupperware (doing the paper towel method) after 24 hours in a glass of water.
Hey man. Sorry about the delay didn't see the post.

I personally use the papertowel method combined with an incubator I have for my reptile breeding. His gives me a taproot in 24hrs 98% of the time. After which point I transplant into the plug. However I have had equal success with putting them in a glass of water, dropping a paper towel onto them and letting them sit somewhere dark and warm (on top of my water heater at the old place) any that are floating after 24hrs likely aren't viable and are typically tossed out here. I take all the sinkers and place them tip down in the plug. They should have no problem finding their way up. They land how they land in nature and most still germinate fine so IMO orientation isn't critical but I'm all for giving them an easy life.

My current method has yet to fail me. And as basically stated above goes something like,
Place in damp paper towel and fold over. Set it on a plate (the plate will pool any excess water rather than absorb it.. makes it easier to know when ur wet enough and prevents moisture being wicked away from the paper towel.

Within 24-36 hrs there is usually a taproot. While its yet to take longer in this setup I wouldn't toss any until 6days. Ive seen a few that took as long.

When the taproot is present I prepare my rooting plugs by soaking them in Phd water (compress hem and let them expand a few times while submerged. I then lightly squeeze the plug to rid any excess moisture.. damp not wet is the key. Rambling off is a real threat right now.

Before uncovering the seed I take a pencil and use it to dialate the hope in the plug a bit... u can do without this step but it hurts to see a potential keeper get its taproot stuck on the way in and snap off.. ur stomach will sink and ull never enter the garden without a pencil again lol.

After the holes have all been opened up I carefully place the seed into the plug taproot down (obvious I know) until the seed. Husk is about 1/8 of an inch below the top of the plug. I then rip off a small piece of the edge of the plug to cover the hole now containing the seed. I throw em into the prop tray. Put the tray back in the incubator and kick on the T5 usually in a day or two they're all above ground and ready to go. After that point its a matter of keeping a high humidity without over watering and causing tthem to damp off. They will spend 1 week in the incubator over which I work the humidity down from 85% to 45%
After the first week they go under a 250w mh for another week and start their training. After week 1 they are transplanted into 5 gallon smart pots with 50% super soil and left to recover a week before they are switched over.

Excited to get some keepers weeded out so I don't have to keep playing with seed. I love doing it but I'm switching from breeding to providing medicinally. Perpetual is a bit of a pain when ur having to account for a seedling that still needs to establish and mature.

Anyway I seem to be rambling now so I'll go ahead and cut this off now loo. :joint: hope that helps. Lmk if u lhave any questions or want pics or the like

OOK. 67 pictures headed ur way. I will do KY best to keep things labeled and in order but the patient took these pics while out of town so I can't promise that ill get em all right lol.

OK first up is some random shots of jtr all plants are at week 8 day 5 ATM.

Next up is gonna be the mendawg that was first to break a branch. Pretty similar to the next one ill post but less of a trich profile and seems capable of very big yeilds. Her main khola about dwarfs a 2l bottle. Not the bbiggest but for her lineage and training she's looking like a serious cash cropper. I fully expect to see a pound off one with proper training and diet... she will be pushed hard. The trich profile is somewhat disappointing especially when compared to mom and jtr. But she smeels so much like chemdawg I can barely stand to move her around. Looks more indica in the leaves and structure but this is deceivingShe starts with round tight buds similar to the indica dom chemdawg then about 6weeks in she starts foxtailing like there's no tomorrow. Her buds unripe are not unlike cheese in structure. Just much fatter. Really a pleasure to grow. Wanted for nothing and is outyeilding everything else 2 fold. I'd expect maybe 9-11% thick. Good weed but not exactly top shelf potency.. time will tell if anything comes from her but as of now I'm happy to have her around. As for the bud that broke off last week.. well she doesn't seem to know. The bud is swelling bigger by the minute so I'm pleased to say the least. Anyway onto the pics.

Mendawg. Short sqautty smells like someone showered in bod man musk spray then proceeded to assfuck a skunk in a Berry patch. Buds are cement like in consistency. Stick stinky and string. Just all around good smoke. Very very very hungry for Cal mag but otherwise was a pleasure to grow. Fast finisher. Can be taken at 7 weeks but gets a fabulous second wind mid week 8 and will reward u if u can wait til week 10

:joint: enjoy. Next pics should have a few harvest shots of the heavy indicas and the jtr. Until then stop by say hi stay high.

Thanks for the reply, I'll be putting my seeds in the plugs and puting them in a humidity dome with my clones.

Sounds like a plan. Make sure ur isolating any clones from another garden or person. Anything onthe clones will end up on the seedlings. They're not nearly as viable and are much more likely to die from the problem than a mature clone

OK. Cropped the tops of the mendawg and two of the jtr tops. Not horrible. I'd guess 1 3/4 oz dry. Time will tell tho. Jtr

Finished cutting down the mendawg a little bit ago. I'd guess just over 1.5 oz total from her. Not a lot but its dense and smells top notch already. Excited for it regardless. Jtr comes down tomorrow and he rest look a good week out still. Enjoy

Way to start a new year. Jtr and mendawg have been culled. And woke up to a big ass box on my doorstep. The patient got me a bubble now machine for the holidays! So stoked right now. The trim can't dry fast enough lol.

Hope everyone has a safe happy new year.

The bud that broke seems to be doing just fine. Still nit the stickiest stinkiest or sparkliest but I gotta see what shell do fimmed and trained.

:/ stayed up late to make some bubblehash for our beach trip only to discover (after making the hash) that the seams of my bags tore a bit. Allowing leaf into every God damned bag. If I could calm down ling enough to see straight I'd find the most illegal way possible to dispose if them. Long story short. Don't buy trichome brand. Bubble bags. There only good for 3 runs it turns out. Going back to mr bubble. anyway off to play with the super green hash :( luckily I only used about 13g of sugar leaf so no big loss. Ill use the bubble now machine after I get some new bags but I've always preferred the control of hand mixing so well see how much I like it. My back and arms will appreciate it I'm sure.

Got impatient and smoked a small chunk of the hash. Ill get over the green. Still bubbles nice and I'm peeled back lol. Love the overwhelming jtr taste

I'm kinda tripped out by the more sativa leaning mendawg plants. They stalled out and starting Browning off the pistils. About week 6.5 I believe... and appeared to be swelling and starting to ripen. This went on for about 6 days then they started foxtailing and pushing out new pistils like crazy and is still exploding with growth. Only the one plant that resembles sister the closest looks like its ripening the other 3 are still pushing hard. I honestly don't know how much more weight the plants can.handle. I've got em hooped and staked but they keep sliding down the stakes and essentially dis assembling the hoop lol. Not sure I should be complaining but the veg ladies are getting big fast... gonna have some monsters on my hands if it takes much longer.

Did a little rearranging today. Found a better sized Hood for flower so I moves the magnum Hood over to veg (I needed the foot print bad). Nothing major I suppose. Still running the same wattage in both. Trimmed the shit out of the veg ladies (always hurts to do but its hard to regret when ur tripling ur yield) and gave em some more training.

Pretty lackluster effort for pics tonight as I just got back from the beach lol. But I have one of the mendawgs turning purple in the calyx.ill get some better shots in the a.m.

Also kinda seeing a cold temp shock in the leaves but she's developing perplexed almost skunk stripes on the buds. Would love to find a purple pheno again

OK. The camera on my phone just isn't cutting it for getting and good shots of the lavender calyx. So these will have to suffice til I get the leaf out of the way.
Up first is the one mentioned above and yesterday. She's the heaviest indica of the lot and shows a very even expression of traits between the two parents. She smells like juicy fruit got sprayed by a skunk and maybe a little pepper hint. Buds are solid as a rock and sticky as could be. She really came into her own the last week. She was largely disregarded as "meh" most of bloom cause she was failing to impress til now.

Next is what seems to be the most common phenotype. Has kinda the tiny bomb smell to it. Definetly some dawg genes in there but man for how seemingly sparse the trichomes are she makes ALOT of oil. She is sticky as a flytrap and while its not my favorite smell it dominates the room.
My favorite part of this pheno is the yields. I've yet to cut her but she puts on rock solid buds that seem to stall in weeks 6-8 and then explode with foxtails almost tripling in size since week 6 so far. I have two others just like her.
