Sorry, it doesn't work that way. You made the claim, you have to bring the proof.

It's called the scientific method and it's how we prove or disprove ideas. Look it up.

Nice try though....

Never heard of anyone with better memory when smoking weed everyday. It is a fact,i don't give a fuck who you are, smoke weed everyday and your short term memory will be affected by it.If your memory is worst when you don't smoke weed, you got to be one dumb motherfucker!!

guess what, the previous page I cited 3 articles, one that basically proves over time you adapt to the short term memory effects.

I want some research from YOU. or your opinion means nothing to me. or anyone else for that matter.

Depends on what I'm trying to remember. I love to get high and sit and read heavy shit like cultural or history studies and I retain it better than reading it sober. But I can take a break from that very same reading session to go get a notepad and forget what I'm after before ever getting to the other room. I also get super creative when I'm high, but I have to take lots of notes or *pfft* it's gone.

Now why is it despite your articles, you cant even seem to find a small percentage in agreement with you...?

I will have to agree with poplar that it does more good
than bad.

I don't think most animals would have cannabinoid receptors
if weed was really that bad for you.

And yes, most animals do have cannabinoid receptors for those
that did not know.

But, to answer the question, for me, it really depends.
Most of the time (80%) I don't remember anything when
I'm baked. Its incredible how many times I can lose a lighter

when I'm takin hits from the bong. lmao.
bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie

Or how many times
I get up to do something, and half way down the hall way
I'm asking myself where the hell I am going and what was getting

ready to do.

But I have noticed when I'm studying high, if I really focus I
can remember everything even after I'm not high.

Thats only when I really concentrate though.

the research article I posted shows that rats after 30 days of chronic use, got over short-term memory problems and had less stress-memory(memory of stressful traumatic things*hence the effect in PTS disorder*)

which basically proves that you can get over the short term memory effects.

and the fact that THC supports neurogenesis in the hippocampus area of the brain, also supports the possibility for it to IMPROVE YOUR MEMORY.

I DO hope this was sufficiently backed up for those skeptics out there . . . if not, do the research yourself, I've DONE ENOUGH. :).

I might remember some stuff better if I really sort of concentrate on it for a while. there's times thought where I'l be talking and just kinda lose where I was going with it all. other than that, my memory really isn't all that bad. about that same as it always has been.

Idk I have a hard time believing cannabis improves your memory only because my short term memory is completely shot and has been for years.
Sometimes I forget what I am saying mid sentence or sometimes someone will ask me a question and I will forget what the question was before I can answer.
Also when I am having a conversation with someone if they ask me a question related to something we talked about just a few minutes ago I will have forgotten what we talked about.

You've got a whole year under your belt and are ready to declare something permanent? That's pretty funny right there. Come back to this thread after 5 or 10 years and then tell us how great your memory is :D

Crazy kids, lol....
:dunce:

I smoke with people who are in there 50+, one in their 60s. They have been smoking most of their lives (some lost many jobs over the years before cannabis laws were as forgiving as 2010). Not to say people are still not loosing there jobs to this day over it, but anyways....

The point is their memory are great. They have had kids, still married (all of them are in fact) and all doing different things in life (one owns a radio station etc) and they are doing swell after decades of smoking.

The brain is a powerful thing. If you really believe something it can happen. it's called "The Power of Belief". Google it sometime. But if you believe you are getting dumber then you will. Like the guy saying he is stumbling over everytime he smokes. Don't you know rosenthal the guy who gets federal pot smokes 10 or more joints a day of federal pot (yes from univ. of mississippi on the cancelled compassionate IND program). And he is a successful stockbroker. Think he could be a stockbroker if he was forgetful? The reason he has to smoke so many is due to tumors that grow from his body in short.

Then lets not forget all the patients in california who are getting some of the best medicine in the world and they aren't getting dumber.

Learn, research, and don't rely on what you learned in your D.A.R.E. class or what Nixon told you.

I still stand by what I said.. though i would like to elaborate that if you're defocused (which cannabis tends to cause when you're really stoned.) your short term memory WILL be bad.

the reason amphetamines such as dextro-amphetamine (adderall) improve your memory is because they put your brain in hyperfocus mode all day long. when you focus your short term memory is just fine. when you're defocusing thats where you run into problems.

cannabis isn't hurting your brain in any way, its helping it in many ways. if you use it to defocus, of COURSE you will have bad short term memory...

my ability to retain a thought upon distraction is completely nonexistant. if i'm thinking about something or talking about something and the phone rings, that thought is gone forever, period. however i remember to return phone calls, i can recall grocery lists, where i parked my car, all the stuff i need to do to get along in life. i should also point out that my cannabis habit is approaching critical status, so there is a high probablility that i was stoned when the initial thought was being filed away in my memory. i have been a heavy smoker for over 10 years, and 5 years prior to that i was a lighter smoker but a smoker nontheless. my long term memory is and always has been stellar but i would be extremely skeptical of any evidence claiming that the short term memory is actually improved. i get the feeling these studies are studying brains that are virgin to cannabis and only exposing them for a period of weeks or months. any virgin brain would bounce right back from that, it's not a breakthrough. not a very effective yardstick to measure long term effects if you ask me.
