Ive seen a chart were it compared the par of a grow lamp at a distance to the suns output. If i lower my light to exceed what the sun produces will it in turn lower production or increase it? Tried to google and find the info but i really couldnt find anything. Let me know what you guys think.

Right now i have my 600w light 10 inches from the tops of my cola's, thats like 275% over the suns par, am i hurting my plants? They don't show any signs of light bleaching.

cool tube with a 350 cfm fan, temps at canopy is 78 on average.
i'm just asking, because i read somewhere that you cannot cool a lamp as you please , if you low too much your lamp temps it will disrupt somehow the lamp spectrum .. i'm only asking because of that . you should google about that ..
nothing saying its your case, just sharing info.

i read that somewhere in a forum , but now i was googling a little bit ( large ) lol but i came across to this..
So i think i take back what i said before .. and what i read before was bullsxxx.....

We are in the process of constructing an operation with fan cooled hoods. We were considering the possibility of mechanically cooling the supply air to do this. What is the optimum ambient temperature for the lamps? (Could air that is too cold effect longevity or spectrum?)
Air cooling HID lamps will not affect the performance or the output. The only way air cooling would affect the performance is if the air were sub zero degree temperatures.

If so .. if you google , you will see that cannabis can indeed suffer from light burn , but there is alot of people that have they bulbs pretty close , my advice to you , is keep the bulb as you please , just keep an eye on the top leaf's(with your HPS off you can have a better look at the health of you plants , hps bulb's can trick your eyes while on) if they show any signs of light burn or any stunted grow , as long as they look fine i really think you are ok and you can keep it that close.
Just keep a close watch on your exhaust system , cause any malfuntion in the fan with the lamp that close can cause irreversible damage and ruin your ladys.

Do you use a reflector ? if soo watch if having the bulb too close you are not losing light in the sides of your canopy.

If your leaves are not turning yellow, or showing signs of heat stress or growth slowing, then your fine, man. But I really, REALLY, wouldnt go closer than ten inches like you have it. Thats the max, and you cant even get that close without an air cooled unit..

Its still about 9-10 inches from the top of the cola's, nothing i can do now, wont go any higher. I Didn't think they would get this big... Jesus.
