Welcome to my thread. I'm starting this thread so I can link back to it when I assist FAQ's. Please do not post in this thread. Bump +rep always welcome if this info helps you. Good Growing! I wish everyone max yields!

First, a little about me. I received my California Prop. 215 Medicinal MJ recommendation in 2002 at which point I started growing for personal use. All of my grows have been Indoor Hydro-Cab style. I prefer this method mainly for it's ability to prevent contamination as there is a big difference between a garden that you reach into and a garden that you walk into. If I ever do full room grow, I'll be the guy in a lab-coat with a hair net. I fricking hate smoking/looking at nugs with pet hair and pubes all up in it! Eesh!

As far as the knowlege I have to offer, when I started doing this there was no RIU. I had to educate myself through books, trial-and-error, and High Times articles, Thanks Ed and Jorge! One of the first things I learned were the dangers of mixing and matching various techniques. So, in this thread I will try to stick to the basics and present info as food-for-thought and not matter-of-fact. More of my applicable knowlege comes from many years of building construction which further includes much electrical experience. These days I'm the go-to-guy for building and wiring grow rooms for my mates.

One common problem question I see alot is a Magneseum deficient seedlings. Let me share my viewpoint on how nutrient deficientcy relates to Ph. As you can see in the chart below, there are different elements that are absorbed by plants as they are associated with different levels of Ph. The chart shows that the most efficient nutrient absorbtion occurs at Ph 6.3. Also notice that at Ph 6.3, Calcium and Magnesium are the 2 elements not in their prime range of absorbtion. This is why manufacturers of nutrients sometimes have a Cal Mag supplement, as does Dyna which is what I use. By using a Cal Mag supplement you have the ability to raise your Ph over 6.3, let's say 6.6, and get better absorbtion of other elements and still supply plants with adequate Calcium and Magnesium. On the other hand, if you are positive that your Ph is optimal and you are seeing a Magnesium deficiency, then you can be sure that your plant is underfed.

One question... if the PH is 6.3 and it will take up less cal and mag.. explain to be how more being available would change anything????

it can't take up anymore then it is because of the PH... more isn't really going to change anything..

just wondering if the next topic you could discuss would be ventilation. it seems simple until you consider temperature (in all seasons), negative pressure, co2, light exhausting, passive intake, odor control and climate controls. i have been putting together a pretty "high tech" system and was having minor difficulties with the custom ventilation system i have designed. Although i have seemed to work most of the kinks out it seems like some tiny factors are making it an invalid piece to the puzzle. i have a post of old plans but would be willing to pm u my updated summary...dont worry itll be much shorter than my previous posts...first time...kinda:eyesmoke:...you kno...haha. but if you see potential i have been dieing to have this and a few other questions answered discreetly.

To be honest, I suck at BTU and CFM calcs. I'm one to just keep adding stuff until I get my desired results. CFM ratings are more theoretical than actual and it ends up being the purchase of an environmental controller to get it all to work optimally, especially if your adding CO2. I'm just not qualified enough to present a formula that works for everybody nor am I qualified to even interpret a calc like that. There is plenty of room to discuss it here but I think sticking to specific scenarios would be more accurate/useable info.
