CannaTricks Organic Perpetual Stadium Grow. BlueBerry, WonderWoman, and Purple Diesel

So Now that I've got my room locked in, and I've got the perpetual in full tilt I've decided to start a new public grow journal for everyone to comment on and ask questions. So feel free to jump in and make suggestions. The grow was started this last August and it took a while on build and tweaking. I went through one very hermaphroditic strain before I gave in and bought some nice genetics.

Right now I'm Running a mix of Blueberry, Wonder Woman, and Blueberry. All procedures are completely organic, and I generally use what I can get from the ground rather then the store. I mix my own soil, create my own teas, and have a family of botanists. I run a little nursery and farm that is also all organic, so there is some crossover from there.

My room is split into 2 chambers now, it was originally 3 chambers but it was overkill and hard to work in, so I merged 2 rooms and added more storage below. My veg chamber is 2' X 8' X 6' I am holding plants for around 2-3 weeks from clone before hitting into 12/12. I've got the room filled with 18 26w 6500K cfls, I'd like to switch that out for 2 100w MH at some point. This room intakes from the basement (very open and good airflow) and a steady 45*-60*F temps coming in. The room stays around 75-80 during lights on, then drops to about 65* at night. Ive got them up off the floor about 2ft so there is a cold sink for the coldest air. on this level I have a 200cfm fan blowing the coldest air into the flowering room.

The flowering room is 8' X 6' X 7' and i have a triangular podium that cuts the room in half. on the back wall I have a 12" shelf that sits stadium style along the back 2 walls. Underneath I keep my compost tea reservoir

since you're a nursery guy I have a couple of questions:

1) ever consider doing an espalier?

2) ever tried nicking the branch to induce more bud sites?

I have considered both of the these methods, but I haven't got the room

I decided to come check out your journal today, after being pleased with the great knowledge and 'myth bustin' you conveyed on another thread.

I tend to befriend those who know how to operate an organic garden with the correct knowledge base, so here's a virtually extended handshake to you!

Nice job on the above, you have some nice techniques and capabilities. It is also nice to see someone not cutting their plants too early.

Subbed up and ready to fly.

Quick questions...from which breeder did you acquire your seeds from? Specifically, the Blueberry?

Thanks for stopping by! On this land we are on we are not doing any Espalier growing (it's rented and we are moving to the east coast this year,) however by fathers grapes were lways grown like this. I did raise bonsais for a time and the concepts are very much the same training wise. I just did a tutorial on my bonsai LST technique, if you would like to see.

As for nicking, I can't imagine from a cannabis perspective this helping much. I generally am trying to remove bud sites to focus energy on the colas, if you are having a problem where you are not getting the yield you want from the space you have, you should try using scrog, LST, or SOG. Locking in things like light intensity/temperature/humidity are really important to how a plant grows. So instead of trying nicking or nailing, or whatever else you see as a trick, spend time on perfecting your atmosphere. Here are 2 LST'ed plants getting ready for harvest (a couple more weeks). You can see that I don't really want more bud sites (I could have had less and been happier)

Find what works best for you. Right now in my room I have LST'ed, SOG, and single pot plants all in flower. I want hard proof of what is working best for me, my strain, and my environment.

One of the things that is really lacking in most people's grows is time and testing. as an example when I built our new greenhouse last year I had maybe 100 different species/phenotype that we tested through the summer and fall. Even though I really really wanted to grow black kohosh, it doesn't run in the environment that we created, I ended up finding that I would need to mix totally different soil for this tea plant, over my other 5 types of tea that were working well in my homemade soil mix. I could have taken the time and mixed a batch every few months along with my regular soil mixing, but this is a business and we want things that are simple, and can bring down my workload.

The same is true for weed. You could grow a crazy afgahn strain that needs high humidity in heat to reach it's full potential, but it is very hard to grow a deep purple hybrid, bred for cold and low humidity; in the same place. Try different strains, try different airflows, and when you find something that works well build on it. Don't listen to the hype.

Now, that being said, I am planning to try some crazy stuff. I want to attempt to graft my 3 strains into one plant mother. I don't have any clue if it will take, but in the next month or 2 I will probably give it a shot :P

I'm lucky to live in an MMJ state with a medical card. I got the blueberry from clone from a family friend. Clone-only as the plant is sterile, and this has been held in motherhood for 10+ years (he got it 10 years ago, who knows how long it was going before that) I have seen some pics on here of people that have 'blueberry' and the plants look similar (probably a hybrid) I bought the Purple Diesel and Wonder Woman from a different grower from clone (but they are not sterile and I now have seeds Purple Diesel X 419 {419 = black velvet X 420}) I haven't sprouted them (they were made because a 419 went hermaphrodite) due to the strain not being stable, they are my "ooo shit I need to grow something" seeds.

I am thinking of just buying a bunch of mix seeds from sensai seeds as we are moving in May for the East coast and I can't take my clones with me :( It will be a sad day when I can only have that blueberry wonderfullness when visiting in Cali.

Harvest Day! I tohught they were going to go a little longer, but the Trich's went 95% cloudy over the last 2 days, with just a hint of amber. I'm guessing for around 3 Zips off these 2 plants, about 12" x 12" of space taken up by each. for your viewing enjoyment...

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't really looking for tricks -- I am happy with my grows -- I was just curious as I had heard about nicking by a master gardener and thought it might have uses in "our world". I also thought that if you had the room and time (I have neither), one could do an espalier on the walls of a small closet and drop the light in the middle maximizing light penetration. like a vertical scrog, sort of.

Snapped this after lights out with a flash and a flashlight. The leaves are starting to get a deep hue, and the buds are swelling up like crazy.

So I installed a new light when we started having problems with the old one. Brand new 1000W MH Sunmaster Warm Red for the last half of their flower. The time has been sped up on harvest considerably; The 2 that have been seriously LST'ed are almost done, they stopped shooting out new growth and hardened. I've got them in the closet for a 72hr dark cycle. These are both the Purple Diesel

The 3 plant pot of Wonderwoman is looking amazing, it's just taking on that deep color in the trichomes. Looking forward to seeing how she is in a week or so. Trichomes have exploded, it was mostly cloudy a week ago, and now it's maybe at 1/2 or less. Super Frosty.
SANY0555.jpgSANY0554.jpgSANY0553.jpg

And the Blueberry just pumping out new growth, ooo the colors.
SANY0552.jpgSANY0549.jpgSANY0547.jpg

And the next harvest is looking pretty scraggly.... :P I tried this whole lets see if I can pack a bunch of plants in a 1gal pot and see what happens. This. This is what happens. But pretty funny none the less. I put 3 clones in one and 2 in the other, the one I have my hand around is pretty hilarous, it shuold go on the the worst internet grows, lol.
SANY0559.jpgSANY0558.jpg

I do have one nice pot coming, I put 4 plants in a 7 gal and lollypopped them. one of the plants grew 3 main colas naturally, and the other 3 are looking strong, should have a really nice crop off these girls.
SANY0563.jpgSANY0561.jpgSANY0562.jpg

Harvest pics to come, should just be a few day!

Cheers!

Here's the Purp Diesel, and the WonderWoman

My next harvest is going to be pretty tiny, I'm still hoping for an ounce or so, but nothing huge. This harvest looks to be about 3 ounces dried overall.

Loving that Blueberry, hopefully I will be blessed as such!
