We have a 30'x60'x17' greenhouse on order, plan to have it up in a month or so. We are having an extended "Golden Arm" custom made for it, for pulling the tarp.

How many crops a year from your light dep?...

Just one but it's more like insurance against the rain. I'm trying early finishers this year and no dep, so I'll see what I can do with that. Going minimalistic, in a bigger way.

That one pic with me in it is 2013 at the end of september. We got hit with 12 days of rain in the last 2 weeks of flower. Just barely squeaked by and yielded 2/3 of what it should have been.

I like the height on the greenhouse, that helps a lot as far as warm humid air accumulating under the plastic. That height is crucial to low tech covers, as far as ventilation. For this year, I'm taking apart the old school pvc hoophouse, spreading the plants, then towards the end I'll put t posts around each plant and have custom covers for each one. Thinking about doing a journal on it. Wish I would have known about the golden arm, I spent some time trying to build my own, but ran out of time and said screw it, I had the time to do it by hand, just another daily chore on the list.

Alright some pics of this year's plants and the beginning of canopy shaping. These pics show south is to the right and overall the angle slants that way an will get a little exaggerated over the season.

This one shows south to the left.

Alright I won't keep updating through the season, you can check these plants in calicos dozen-ish thread. I'll do an end of season on these maybe, to show how they develop and look when budded and leaning over to follow that sun, and how the north side just won't have as big or as many buds as the south (I know I am pruning for that, so they could have more, I'm just focusing on having buds that finish in the light).

The buds will lean that direction, and if there is a stadium style effect to the canopy, more light can be optimized, rather than colas shading each other out. If you plan ahead and top the plant so that the south side is lower overall, it will be set up nicely for the end of the season. Ok for real pics coming soon.

If you have room, just put them in a east-west line or space them farther apart north-south so you don't have to cut them at all

I'm talking about the north side of the plant will get shaded by itself, and the south side will be thicker. My plants are getting spread out in about 2 weeks.
10ft x 10ft per plant with aisles. North side can also be a week ahead of the rest of the plant because of the shade.

Ahead or behind? Wouldn't shade slow it down?:

As far as I've seen plants getting less direct sun finish earlier, and I noticed once I got to growing plants in the 3-5 lb range, the north side of most were ahead of the rest of the plant. Seriously a week sooner on that north side, also smaller buds and not as many of them.

I am doing an indoor vertical. I'll have to pay more attention to the difference between the inner and outer sides. I have plenty of tricomes, but no color to them yet, on the top buds.
