some are 78 days seed to smoke others are 117 days or so

I think i have 2 or 3 auto seeds i was contemplating throwing in there. My next grow will be scrog again though because i wont have enough cuttings to do effective sog this time around.

Just to add to your dilemma... my favorite 'hood' is a bare bulb socket cordset, cuz I grow vertically. Cheaper, too.

Basically two t5s is seeming to be about the same as running one 1kw bulb. Which ia gonna be too much money in electricity coupled with my main grow.

Lol 'used for just one grow!' ...that lasted for three years! Dude, if you can't afford $25 for a new Plantmax HPS thouie, you got problems. This is NOT the place to skimp!

This is as bad as using a cheap pH meter.

I have the brand new apollo mh bulb lol.about as cheap as it gets. I wouldnt veg mothers with a hps.

My actual grow room doesnt skimp at all lol.

How would the light coverage be just hanging one vertically

see when u turn it off 100% the bulb is not working correctly ........it needs a set power to get the gas excited to put out the right lightwaves and to full use the bulb when it is not getting that power it does damage to the bulb and it is not the correct lightwaves

a fresh out of the box bulb is about 20,000 hours of run time most shops/ cash grows only use the bulb for about 8-12000 hours then they change the bulbs out for a fresh one to get back the lumens and lightwave drift

You've got a lot of that right. HPS isn't quite as vulnerable to underdriving as MH, but it still shortens life and shifts the spectrum- which in this case makes a crummy spectrum even less desirable.

However, twelve hour days rack up the hours pretty fast; one ten week run puts 840 hours on the lamp so three cycles puts the lamp over 2000 hours, at which point most commercial operations replace them.

If you want to run HPS and not change your bulbs so much, get DE lamps and fixtures. Up front cost is a bit more, but lamps last a lot longer with less lumen loss, and they're a few points more efficient.

Or, future proof yourself now and start building DIY COB LED panels. The guys here in the RIU LED threads are some of the best at it right now, and they're already fabbing up panels that DOUBLE the PAR/W of HID lighting.

In five years, growers still using HID lighting will be considered dinosaurs.

In your oppinion would a large adjust a wing serve the purpose if i semi bonsai my mothers?

I run those in my grow room but i also run scrog so i dont have much of a problem with penetration

Light penetration is a bit shaky 6" or so below canopy

Don't knock it until you've tried it. My whole veg after rooted clones is HPS and my girls grow fast and tall. MH it's a garbage bulb for growing, it's too damned inefficient. You want a better option to plug into that old magnetic ballast, run one of these, VERTICALLY;

6'x8'=48 ft² and a good footprint for an good thouie is really closer to 4x4=16 ft². In other words, to do your tent justice you really need 3kW of single ended HPS in there or if you can get enough headroom, two DE lamps.

Again, efficiency might cost more up front but it trickles back into your pocket every month in the form of lower power bills. The BEST HID option for you, if cost weren't an object, would be half a dozen 315W CMH lights.

Naw man, they can't stop you from getting your medical card over that bullshit. Besides, this is COLORADO! You don't need any documentation at all for six to twelve plants (get a 'roommate')!

They might want to stop you from getting a commercial badge, but even then I'd say to try it and make them reject you. They've been giving out a lot of badges to people who didn't think they'd be eligible.

Better LED panels- driven by COBs- are on the way. I'm building stuff now that will beat them when they get to market, lol

Cob are great for coverage and depth with right lens angle ......but the programable light pattern out weights it and a daisy chain up to 250 lights off one controller

as for coming out ........i will give it 6 months i am setting things up here so i have a 80 oz surplus i got 2 ppl split it half and they can sell while i am there not missing a step ....so if i do come back here i still have current income ....if not the money they collected for me i say merry x-mas /happy bday for the next 20 years

Lol, read your profile about how you just got a new computer with 16 Gigs of RAM... took me back to the days when plugging in ONE MEG would make a huge difference in performance!

1.5 tb hd getting a 256 ssd to increase the data transfer
amd fx 8350 8 core 97th percentile
gtx 960 card 94th percenttile

the nivdia sheild is looking good hooked tho this computer hooked to a 60 inch tv .........mahahahahaha

i can run any game on the market mahahahahahaha
