cant get clones to take root please help

I have started to expirament with taking clones and can't get them to root. I have read many forums about cloning and seem to be doing everything eight bit can't get them to take root. I'm using a 7 in tall humidity tray, roottech cloning gel and some organic dirt cubes.. Any suggestions?

what light do u have them under and do u trim the ends of all the leaves on cuttings

also instead of spreying the plants directly i sprey the inside of the plastic dome twice a day and make sure the plugs pellets soil etc u are using isnt too wet and not too dry

I have been putting the off the the side in my veg room where I have a 1000w MH and a 600wat HP's hanging. I was thinking maybe the light was too strong for them. Also as far as watering I've been spraying the dome twice a day an giving each cube a few sprays a day also

How long has it been?


Also, don't get cubes too wet. (Keep them moist)

My first cutting I took about a week ago all shriveled up and died about day 4 I took the latest cuts 2 days ago and they are starting to wilt over now also like the first ones

The #1 problem with most failures I see is temperature. You want those cubes to be slightly warm to the touch. To cold = no roots.
So check it. I like to use t12's to root(cool white is ok). To much light at this stage and they yellow up and look like shit when/if they root. I usually put the t12 about 16 inches from bottom of tray(14" from top of tray). Now here's the thing, i don't ever use heating pads. Those t12's make enough heat, as long as you contain the heat. If your tray/light is in a room or box or tent@ 80 degrees, that is perfect. I can almost guarantee you temp is your problem.

And there is moisture on the walls of the dome?

The pictures did not come through at all, but are non-essential.

Cutting the ends of the sun leaves as suggested can be helpful. Also, if it's been less than 3 weeks you may still see something. Often times you'll see yellowing on those cut leaves when she flips to shooting roots. Also, if the base isn't wet, then the air needs to be really humid and the leaves wet, as survival will be occurring through moisture coming in the leaves. You can reduce the light the a CFL above the humidome. Keep spraying while avoiding mildew and you'll get something eventually, keep taking cuttings in the mean time. Good luck man.

That is your problem. They need to be under constant high humidity for
About 5-7 days

Does your dome fit snug onto the tray? And vent holes closed? If your cubes are warm to the touch, that usually helps make humidity in dome btw

It has two open vents in the side and I closed the top vent.. Thought maybe the bottom two should be closed also bit didn't want to worry about mold or something from the moisture

Yup, keep that shit closed up for 5-7 days. I open up and blow on them once daily. After 7 days I gradually start opening up vents. 100% success rate here for the last 20 yrs. Set up a t12 like i was saying next time to. Its the perfect amount of light

Ok I'll close those side vents and see what happens.. Do you think it's too late to bring these ones back or should I start over..

Possible. Only one way to find out. Spray that lid, close vents, and pray lol.
Edit: i don't ever recommend spraying the cuts themselves, but since they are wilting do to low humidity at this point, i would spray them cuts rite now to.

Just sprayed and blocked the vents I'll keep em under the light and hope for the best! I'll post progress in a couple of days.. Thanks a million for the advise. I'm a novice grower and enjoying all of the education. Happy smokin!

So its been 3 days and the leaves are still drooping but the tops look a bit better. Still no roots. I am retaining the mist on the sprayed dome for about 8 hours before it evaporates.

Make sure that when you cut your clones from the mother,that the clones are from new growth. If the stems are hard they will not take roots. I use sunshine #4 in the 72 starter trays with the high top dome. Olivias cloning solution to water up the starter packs. Then a root starter on the stems, stim root #1. Use some water and make a paste, not too thick not too thin. Rub it on the stems. Cut the clones so that they are at least one or two nodes and cover the nodes with the paste. poke a hole in the peat with an old chopstick to the bottom of the #4 and slip in the clone and tighten up carefully. Put the tray on a shelf in a closet with a 125 w sunblaster lamp. Open the vents on the dome a little, and do not water for at least 5 days. temp should be around 80 f in closet. If it is warmer than that you may have to water again, but too much water is not good. After about 5-6 days cut off some of the bottom leaves to clean them up, so the don't start to mold. Lots of roots in7-10 days and the stragglers in about 14 days.The dome should have moisture in side on it's own. If not close the vents a bit. If the packs are dry by all means water with more Olivia's.
