CAN'T SLEEP! What is the best strain for treating insomnia?

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

I searched around for a thread addressing this question, and haven't found one;

For years I've had a hard time falling asleep, and bud has been the only effective medicine for the treatment of my insomnia.

Mids do the trick most of the time, and they're not exactly 'designed' to put you to sleep.

I believe if I can get my hands on an appropriate strain (probably a nice, heavy, stony, Indica) my problems with sleep might be a thing of the past!

So far I've settled on Black Domina.

But space is limited, and this is my first grow, so I really need to be well informed to choose my strain.

Question: What is the best strain for treating insomnia?

(Indica or mostly Indica preferred, but not required)

Stress from my business caused me to develop a pretty bad insomnia problem. It is how I found my way to medical marijuana. I tried the OTC and prescriptions but nothing work consistently until the MJ. It has been a God send to my sleep life. I have had particular success using strawberry kush and OG #18. Good luck with your insomnia. "A good night sleep is a good friend."

Lots of great choices here. I have insomnia too and I've had succes with Dinafem's Critical +, World of Seeds' NLxBB, and lots of others like good old White Widow and AK47. Most anything with Northern Lights, afghani or kush should do the trick, and they're easy to grow. I've found that for most strains, the longer you flower the more pronounced the heavy indica characteristics become. For my last grow I ran Big Bud, C99, WW and AK. I pulled the BB early due to space issues and let the others go pretty long. The BB turned out to be racy party weed, whereas the WW and AK will knock me out. Even the C99 eventually puts me to sleep.

Since its your first grow and you have space issues, have you thought about using feminized or auto seeds? I think the Black Domina only comes in regs.

Sweet Seeds has a fem Black Domina called SAD. I grew one out and it is a really good high. I think it would help with your sleep too.

My purple wreck puts me to bed every time i smoke her...its definetly too sedative for me...almost an unnatural sleepiness..

White Rhino completely annihilated me. I slept for 18 hours after 1 joint. special mentions for Green Poison by Sweet Seeds and Hindu Kush, that blew my mind. I have always wanted to try Black Domina but never been able to get hold of it from a dealer before buying some seeds.

I seem to be observing some common themes here;

Looks like Kush strains are popular for sleep, as are G Indicas (G18, G13)... Grandaddy Purple has come up a few times, also.

Keep suggesting! I appreciate all the help!

i say stick with what you've chosen. if you can afford the sensi pack of black domina DO IT. or google herbies pick and mix and get them individually if you cant afford a whole pack. i couldnt afford a whole pack at the time so when the tude bday promo came around i got 3 strains that were black domina crosses (hoping for the same anti-insomnia effects)

other than that try just about any 100% indica. or one high in CBD. i think positronics has some...like blue widow i think

like many others have said are also good choices.

afghan kush too possibly? or an afghanistan landrace.



as someone else said...pulling them late helps bring out the sedative effects imo.

Seriously, Kosher Kush won the Cannabis Cup indica category 3 years in a row, the past 3 years. It's rated 9.1 on Leafly.com, with it's top medical use for insomnia and top effect as sleepy. It was rated as one of earth's strongest strains and I can personally verify it will knock you out. Give it a try, it's a great plant to grow too.
