captains perpetual pc casse grow

hello RIU and welcome too my journal, new to the site but not new to growing have been growing for a year now and have a few successful grows under my belt. Have used HID's in the past but this is gonna be done with cfl's on a lot smaller scale!

I dont smoke alot at the most 3 grams a week so if i can harvest half ounce from this a month i will be happy, im gonna take v12xjs's approach at this and plant a feminised seed every 25-30 days and try and make this perpetual

I still have lots of fine tuning to do and i haven't had it running for more than an hour all that's in there at the moment is 1 45w 6400k cfl and 2 23w 2700k cfl's but plan on getting around 125-150w in there eventually, its a small case so as soon as a bigger one pops up for free i will build a new one but we will see how this one gos first, will post some measurements tomorrow.

first strain going in is a Nirvana AK48 and is a few days old so the grow is officially running so that means i could get a thread going

Good to see ya gumball! Nows the time to see if I can pull off this pc thing!! This is where the skills at yeah that bulb is to big so I'm gonna order 2 23w 6400k's of eBay and the rest 2700k's, should be able to fit 6 23w bulbs in there maybe more we will see.

Damn just spotted I put two S's in case in the title lol I guess I need a mod to change it?

Hello captain caveman this sounds like its going to be an interesting thread to follow as you know your stuff. Going to be great to watch you develop that case, just a shame the Grand Master of the case grow V12 has left RiU, but I reckon you will do it every bit as good.

If you go down to your local council rubbish tip you will often find those old cases stacked up, complete with fans etc still in them, they've been dumped, so often you can ask if you can take one for spares.You might be lucky and find a big case.

hello maturesmoker im hoping this works out well, and as for developing my brain go's into overdrive when i work with cfl's and its good to be back in the cfl section too cheers for the comment and i hope i can pull his off as good as v12 that would be awesome but like i said about 14g's a month and im happy.

shame about v12 but on a good note i have found him i will drop you a pm in a bit

I got this case and another from a nice chap on Freecycle, dunno if you have seen it before but you sign up and its like people recycling stuff check it out for yourself its good, the local dump have stopped people taking things now bit silly really.

I'm sub'd... how far along are you from seedling to dirt?

A quick little update on things, first up is that this is a well small case so im keeping my eye out for a bigger one, the usable space inside if i ditch the 45w cfl is h11" w12" d7" so shes a small one and im guessing only 2 plants at a time, I think ideally to make this perpetual thing work im gonna want to be able to fit 2 big plants and 2 smaller ones.

I need to fit light traps like gumball has made and fi them inside but thats gonna be hard with this case.

Im using Westlands advance plus as a medium with no added perlite as it has a great structure without and the roots love it as for nutrients ive got to buy some in a couple weeks as i have ran out from my last grow.

nice to meet ya easy420 do you mean how old is the seedling? it broke the soil 4 days ago but before that it had a couple ups n downs! shes very lucky to be here

so it broke soil four days ago... did you cover it in a dome? to keep moisture in for any length of time? Mine is just about the same exact age. I have four, three broke soil and two of those three are looking alright. did you plant your seeds in the current pot or have you transplanted to another pot. Mine all started in little cups. You can check out my grow via my sig link.

It will be nice seeing as how are plants are almost the identical age. Although I am growing bag seed and i think yours was the AK48? Can't wait to see what happens next.

im sure it was 4 days ago, ive had a bit of a hectic time really and so did this seedling, i dont ever bother with domes never had a problem yet! touch wood lol this is the pot it sprouted in and will finish in, i have done a 12/12 from seed grow once and was amased at the amount of roots they grew in just 5 weeks, with 12/12 from seed you want as much growth as possible and as quickly so i dont bother with changing pots.

I would love to grow a bagseed but none of the bud i have bought recently has had any in, i do remember years ago finding them but never thought about growing until a year ago, ive got a good 10 weeks to go until the ak is ready so will be buying quite abit of bud before then so i may be lucky.

not much going on at the minute, the ak48 baby is doing well and the case is working well so happy so far

As far as lighting and temps go is 91 total watts 1 45w 6400k cfl and 2 23w 2700k cfl's and the temps havnt gone over 80f normally at 77 so plenty more room to hopefully get 6 23w bulbs in there. still on the look out for a bigger case as i also want to fit the timer light traps and odour control inside the case for total stealth

I have heard of Freecycle, I'll have to check that out myself now you reminded me. Thanks for that. What you going to use for pots in that case or are they staying in those round ones? I think V12 used washing machine tablet tubs? Makes sense to maximise the amount of soil for the roots to spread.

Yep MS your right about another stupid policy, they used to sell you the items really cheap but i think it go's somewhere to be sold for more money now. freecycle is great i find loads of things on there quite often but you have to be quick with the emails and if you got something you were gonna chuck you just offer it on there and 99% of the time someone will want it and saves a trip to the dump

I did notice the pots v12 used hes posted loads of new pics over where he moved to have you found him? I told the mrs she has to start buying them instead of powder from now on

Well guys im very happy i found a bagseed !!!! I had ran out of weed until tomorrow so a mate gave me a couple spliffs worth and there was a seed in there, he said it was some dutch passion but wasnt sure of the name, all i can say it was some very nice looking bud and a nice high and very smooth so im hoping its a viable seed and that it germs

What do you guys think, does it look viable?

hey gumball saw your post over at v12's new home and i think you mentioned kali mist being a low odour strain, its suppose to be 90% sativa! surely not ideal for a pc case but maybe you can keep them small?

any other low odour strains? i know northern lights is a good one
