Carbon Filter Questions

The dust cover on my carbon filter is filthy, and beginning to restrict airflow to the filter. I have confirmed with a suction test with part of the dust cover folded down, and the part uncovered had much stronger suction than the section with cover. Is it okay to run my filter without the cover for a few hours so I can wash the cover? (hand wash, as a machine would more likely destroy it). I appreciate any help.

Sorry, my answer above should have been "NO!" If you remove that pre-filter you must immediately chop your plants. It doesn't matter what stage of growth they are in. They will be stressed and never recover.

Sure. You can run it without the prefilter.

have washed mine in the washing machine no problem! that was a cheapo ebay carbon filter and pre-filter. will do the same when my phresh pre-filter needs to be cleaned

Word. I'd just wash that mother fucker bro. How many hours has that filter ran with it on? I bet hundreds, hell, maybe even thousands. What is a couple of hours with no pre-filter going to do? Unless you are pulling somehow really dirty air into your grow, I would not worry one bit.

Yes, it's been running consistently since 12/30/13, so about 2 1/2 months, (about 2000 hours of runtime)

Thanks. I joined just to learn these small yet important points. I have been away from a good harvest for thirty years and much has changed and improved. Need medication soon, hope it works out.
