Carbon Filter???

So am I sucking the air in the room into the carbon filter?
Example: Air>inline fan>Filter= clean air?

Or should it be reverse?
Example: Air>Filter>inline fan> Clean air?
Result of fan sucking on the filter ofcourse.

To be honest I've been doing it the first way and if I'm wrong I need to know now I begin flowering soon.

Yeah a carbon filter is a pretty expensive intake filter. The reason for the carbon is to clean the smells out of the air.
2 ways to use, filter>fan>exhaust out or filter>fan>back into room.
Can put your hood into either of these set ups, but you want to pull through the filter.

For more detail the fan is connected directly to the filter nothing inbetween. Just a regular 600 with batwing. No fancy cool tube or hood.

Another question though. Is the filter not working at all the way I have it? Blowing into it instead of sucking from it I mean.

My plans were to put the actual filter on the outside of my room on the otherside of a plastic door, while the fan is connected through a hole in the door sucking dirty air from the room blowing it into the filter. The clean air from the filter is simply coming back into the house. You dont think that will work?

Otherwise I will just put the filter on the side thats in the room and flip the fan around to get the results I want. My room cant be setup like the ones in the pic because I have access to a smalll opening to the outside on the otherside of my room. I'm trying to create a suction to pull fresh air in from that opening.

why are you so worried about your intake? If you have a carbon filter you need to use that to scrub the odor from your exhaust air. If your carbon filter is connected to your fan, connect the other side of your fan to where you want your air to exhaust and you should be good on odor control.

Thanks man I just dont have guidance... I just think backwards I guess. Appreciate all the knowledge...

It could work, but is common agreement here to pull not push through the filter. However you are using it differently than i thought and you could try it, it things get to stinky rearrange. It is possible you could get this to work and i could see your reason for it.

you understand his theory more than I, I guess I just can't picture his setup or needs

Picture getting that big pain in the ass carbon filter out of the room or tent, the only way to do it and still have it filter the smell, is to leave the fan in the room and have it push through the filter.

Due to growroom size and setup I too push air through a filter that is actually outside the growroom, works well for me. I `d assume that if theres no leaks it shouldnt really make a difference which way it is done.

Well, since there is already a thread on the subject, I might as well ask my question here. If I just hang my filter/ fan combo in my grow room, will it work as far as controling the smell of my babies?

Yes, this is known as "scrubbing". Typically can run higher cfms through the filter than when direct filtering, although i believe only can filters actually give 2 seperate ratings. The concern with this is if you are venting out you may not have gotten all the smell, with the filter being used on all exhaust air you are sure that it was filtered.
