Catapiilars help!

Hi guys

Was doing so well this year finally avoiding any insects and out of no where I have a bloody catapilar invasion literally eating my buds. What can I do? I’m taking them off by hand everyday but it’s still killing my buds and they are only about two weeks from finishing, also another plant on different area in garden has now what looks like spider mites. what can I do on both of these so close to harvest?

Remove the infected buds/areas and spray with BT as long as your plants aren't mold prone. Whenever you have time check for eggs they are TINY but noticeable usually yellow or white

You need to spray constantly outside to prevent this. There is a good chance of catipillars inside the buds shitting everywhere

Imo your too late. Spray those buds with alcohol before cutting them out. That’s become budrot and that shit spreads like wildfire. In my novice finding, its a wrap once that shit sets in.

You can spray anything you want but what you need to do is get in there and dig around the buds and manually remove the caterpillars. If you spray something to kill them they're just going to die and decompose. You can't leave dead bugs to rot in the bud.

You have to remove them. Even then if it's as bad as you say those plants just need to be scrapped. It sucks but it is what it is.

You can salvage buds/ But keep on top of spraying those fuckers and cutting out any rot

Cut off any rot, don't second guess... toss that shit. Spray for worms and mold. Inspect the buds very carefully up until harvest and definitely when trimming. You'll likely find more.

The "rot" caused by caterpillar poop is generally localized and not systemic like botrytis

I would cut out the affected areas and spray a bit of 3% hydrogen peroxide in my wake

Thanks guys. The only way I can see possible to salvage any is by harvesting them now, what do you guys think, are they close enough to being ready?

Everyone grows differently. But I only grow outdoors and I haven’t sprayed my plants with anything in the last 3 years!
I haven’t seen any caterpillars, spider mites or russets! (I’m knocking on wood right now)
I do have those little white butterfly bastards flying around my garden, but they seem to land and then take off quickly from my weed plants.
I’ve been practicing the living soil technique watching the Grow your Greens guys on YouTube getting great advice from them. I’m assuming that this practice is keeping my plants super healthy and unattractive to bad pests. That or I’ve just been really lucky.

I'd say you're lucky, but could be the area you are in. This has not been OP's experience so he needs to work to prevent it

I use a bug zapper all season. 20 feet from my plants. Also bird feeders in close proximity. A bug zapper racket and BT all summer.
