Caylx- pre-flower question

You know the pre-flower calyx when it 1st shows is real skinny. 5 weeks into flower it is swollen and huge! Would the calyxes on the bud get that huge if given more time? I've never been a patient 1 so I have no clue. The calyxes on buds swell but then split open and 3 calyxes rise out of it, then they swell and 3 more come out of each 1 of those... etc. etc. and our buds grow. But when all the hairs turn brown and shrivel away do they all swell to be as big as the pre-flower? I've noticed that is when the pre-flower swells, when the hairs shrivel. Just rambling..lol Will add pics too. I always seem to harvest to early, just need to be patient this time. Looking for motivation. Does anyone have a good pic of a properly finished bud?

It really all depends on preference on a "properly finished bud".

Here is a pic of something I grew once, and I like to let it get a little past done so it levels me when I smoke it.

Interesting. I like the small flowers.

The preflowers will mature a little faster than your buds because they develop sooner, hence the name PREflowers. Loot at the calyxs on the buds.

That's what I'm talking about, awesome. Look at the difference between yours and mine. Another week and I'd probably chop mine cause I get the ''fever''.lol I'm just going to look at your pic when I get the itch now. Thanks for posting.

Yes sir, I know they develop faster and all that. It was probably hard to read my ramblings but I was asking if the calyxes on the buds would swell that big if giving the proper time. The pic above says yes. After all my grows I still pick early like a newb. Not this time though, I think

sorry I misunderstood you. IMO no they won't. I have seen some very large preflowers and was thinking the same thing but it wasn't quite like that. Plus the preflowers still grow longer and are over mature at harvest, while your buds don't.

Yeah them pre-flowers get pretty beastly.

i myself dont go by what the bud looks like..i harvest when the tri's are to my liking. resin glands make the bud...not the looks. just a thought
