Central NY grow….first time (Brothers Grimm genetics)

@cannabiscrusader @alphapinene nice, glad we’re all at similar stages in flower. I’m not to far from you both….in the Ballston Spa/Amsterdam area. What do you both think….should I do one more week of grow nutes or start flower nutes? I plan on just sticking with the Advance Nutrient feeding schedule for this run…i want to do more research on organic dried amendments before I use it. Don’t fix what isn’t broken you know lol.

glad to have some fellow NY growers close by, that’s a nice area! I would stick with it if it’s working, no need to change!! I actually just started feeding flowering nutrients at 1/4 strength and they seem to have responded well, i’m in Roots Lush soil tho which is highly amended. If you do start flowering nutrients maybe try 1/4-1/2 strength and see how they do

Heard that, I think I’m going to do one more week of veg nutes then switch over to flower but I’ll keep that in mind. On Advanced Nutrient’s grow schedule for flower you go right into full strength bloom…half strength may be the way to go though. How do you fend off bud rot and mold in the flowering season….im starting to worry about everything that comes with this season.

Sounds good, yeah see how they look before you feed em flowering nutes, they may want the full strength, but yah half could never hurt..
i’m starting to get anxious too! Try to keep the budworms caterpillars off, they seem to be a big culprit for budrot as they eat their way out of buds from the inside out, while leaving a trail of shit behind that causes mold. People use B.T.k (Monterey is good) which is 100% organic and can use till the day of harvest. It’s a bacterium, that when ingested by the caterpillars, stops their metabolism and they die. you would have to spray the leaves/buds every week or two, it breaks down in sunlight and washes away with rain. This would be prime time to start (as a matter of fact I should). Also try to keep the buds as dry as possible. Shake off the morning dew/set up oscillating fans if you could to dry em off quick. Also it helps if the plants get good morning sun to evaporate the dew.

Hope all my fellow NY growers got through the crazy rain/storm/hurricane this past week. Visited the garden yesterday and was very surprised by the growth…..they’re getting big. Pineapple is popping pistils hard now. Did a defol on Berry and a final defol on Pineapple. I’m going back today so I’ll snap some pictures. Little worried though….seeing some purpling/blackening on new growth on Berry and a couple of my GF’s cousins plants. Did some research…I guess there’s this weird virus going around that’s been destroying plants across the country but hits the Northeast hard. Hoping it’s just the cold temperatures we’ve had at night…I’ll take some pictures of this as well. Have any of you dealt with this before in New York?

Just wondering where in NY y’all are that you have heat and no rain. I live in NNY and all we’ve had is dounpour, sun, dounpour, sun. Yeah, I’m in that track of weather that’s been hammering the north of Syracuse. Down south in Rome they had an F2 tornado and less than a mile from my house Mother Nature decided another clearing in the woods was in order. Had a microburst flatten a half mile of trees in a straight line. I have watered my OD plants once this season. One is in 27 gal SIP tote and other is In a 27 gal tote right on top of last years harvest stump. Grow NY!

We’re located near and around the Capital Region (Albany). Almost all of July was very hot (90’s) here with few rainy days…August has actually cooled down for us and we have had more rain but nothing crazy. I’m familiar with Rome and Syracuse….grew up in the Utica area and my grandparents lived in the Finger Lakes. Heard about the Tornado in Rome and was shocked. Good luck man and happy growing!!

For bud rot and especially for powdery mildew I use Zerotol HC on my outdoor grows. It can be used until the moment of harvest and leaves no residue! Ok so I’m doing 3 posts instead of one huge post with a bunch of different things to focus on. First post will focus on Berry/Pineapple/Apollo’s progress. Second will have to do with Purple’s transplant/first day of being outdoor and third will be about the weird purple/blackish growth some of the plants in the garden are showing.

Ok, Berry/Pineapple/Apollo….what can I say? They’re killing it!! Huge stretch since last week….looking super healthy and green, Pineapple is further ahead in flower then Berry and Apollo but not far and I think Berry and Apollo will catch up. Yesterday was the last feeding of Veg nutes and the last defoliation. I guess I’ve been treating these girls a little like indoor plants, but I’m defoliating and lollipoping more for overall health/airflow reasons than light penetration. I’m preparing for molds, fungus, rot. In these pictures you can see I haven’t taken a ton off just enough so I can see “through” the plants. Check them out and the beginning buds on Pineapple!!~
Apollo~Pina~Berry~Pineapple’s first flowers~

Today was Purple’s last day on the counter….not gonna lie I was over her taking up counter space and the girlfriend wasn’t fond of her skunk. To say the least…it was time for a transplant and for Purple to be moved outside to flower/finish. Transplanted her into a five gallon Smart Pot with Fox Farm Happy Frog and some Big Foot mycorrhizae. Excited to see what happens with this strain…as I explained in the past this is from a test pack of a cross of Purple Urkle x Cinderella 99 from Brothers Grimm. I’ve done a little investigating on people’s results and it seems there’s some pretty cool phenotypes. So far Purple is giving off strong Lemon/Berry vibes with an undertone of skunk…we’ll see how she plays out…check it>>>>>

Didn’t get to my third post last night but better late than never. As I mentioned above some of the plants are showing a purplish/blackish color on new growth. Temps did get into the low 60’s at night last week a few times so maybe it’s that but I’ve been doing some research and apparently a virus is going around that is totally destroying plants. It starts late July early August just when flowering starts, growers are saying it’s spread by leaf hoppers but can also be passed from plant to plant in your garden. Seeds from said infected plant would also be infected. Have any of you growers experienced this virus? Seems nobody really knows what it is. Here’s some pictures of Berry and a Sour Diesel plant my GF’s cousin is growing. Any idea what this could be?

Damnn, haven’t experienced that virus, just septoria creeping up a little more. My biggest plant is effected the most, traveling all up the plant, while others don’t seem as bad..my pineapple chunk is barely effected, doing great fighting it off …there’s a bunch of leafhoppers around so I’ll keep an eye out for that…

How are your plants in regards to septoria/leaf spot?

@alphapinene no septoria or leaf spots in sight for any of my plants as of yet. Here’s an interesting forum from THCFarmer about this weird virus sickness.

@mandocat no this is something different. Did some more research and delved deeper into that thread I posted. Some were saying it could be a phytoplasma or witches broom. In Hawaii they call it the Black Death. Here’s some photos I found online~

That be strange the witches broom here I know of is a thing with trees more so like birch and stuff unless it's something different under the same name ? To me that looks like phytoplasma
