Ceramic Metal Halide + High Pressure Sodium, a new level of performance

So in a couple decades of growing under lights I have seen and used every "new" type of bulb that has come out looking for as close a match to sunlight as possible.
Enter the Ceramic Metal Halide retro-white 400w for HPS mag ballasts This is a series of pics from the day I turned them back to yesterdays 14day mark.
in this strain this much development takes 3weeks under HPS alone.special 003.jpg1week 004.jpg2week 002.jpg

Ok so I,ve got my 400cmh,s cooking in the reflector's and have to say its performing like a champ so far, the first thing I noticed after about 10 min was how clear the light was in color, like high definition, I hope my little girls get along with philips cmh retro, wish me luck, Im gonna need it after I scored a deal on Craigs List for my clones ( I could go on, and on about cl clones, but what's the point) however if you have the basic knowledge you should do fine with a little work and the want to know how, anyway I'll check back in a wk or two.......take care guy's.....

Well that took for ever..... anyway this is 1 wk in flower and about 4' tall, I'm very happy with the cmh , as you can see it does its job well with very good results, I was able to keep the lights 12-15'' away with my setup, I was using a SSII reflector, ..............for now there under a MagnumXXXL/1K/Hortilux Eye, lets see what happens I'll have more pics soon, cmh 1.jpgView attachment 1011456View attachment 1011455

I'm growing for the first time so am slow with the wording. Are you saying you are using a 'ceramic metal halide bulb' (specifically retro white 400), in an 'HPS mag ballast'? What does mag stand for?

I thought only hps could work in hps ballasts. Obviously not. What is the deal with that? Does it just change the spectrum of the MH?

Your title said, plus HPS. Are you also using an hps bulb with them at the same time? Or did you just mean, plus hps ballast?

Yes thats correct, ceramic metal halide, hps magnetic ballast, Im not a teacher Blackie the dog, Im just showing some work and I hope you like.. I will say Ive used plenty of bulbs and I dont think I'll be changing anytime soon, Im using these for veg, I'll stick a couple in with 1000w Ushios for flower next time...

I'm doing 600w HPS + 400w CMH in a Growzilla ballast and I love it. I used it for veg for a little while too and the results were outstanding. I'm going to convert all of my lighting to HPS+CMH.

Hey, I have a 400W HPS mag ballast - when my current bulb raps its hand in I will try one. Do you have a link to a supplier?

Just wanted to bump this thread again and give mad respect to these bulbs. My harvest last time was insane with this bulb. Shit was TOO sticky. I highly recommend these for veg, and the last week of flowering, or even your whole grow

Here's my current grow: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/407652-white-widow-kandy-kush-400w.html

they make it easy to take good pics too. check out the "for horticultural use" part of this image, about 1/3 of the way down.

You can get them anywhere online for googling (I recommend your favorite trusted online hydro supplier), but only get philips brand. pretty cheap, too
