hey i was wondering how much 4 23w (100w) 6500k's cfl bulbs would raise the electric bill, and how much it would raise with 6 of them. they will be pluged into 2 or 3 diff lamps with 2 bulbs on ea lamp. i have a fan running for like 4 hours every couple of hours and turn it off at night.

if someone could answer id appreicate it.:weed::weed:

ps: i forgot to ask how much do you think heat going to raise in closet to with 2 bulbs it never got hot. and i got the lights on a 18/6 cycle atm 12/12 for flower when i get there.

The temperatures won't raise too much - just make sure that you have the proper air circulation inside.

Let's assume you have 6x23W CFLs.

6*23 = 138 total watts = 0.138 kW.

Electricity bills charge you based on a certain rate per kWh, so you need to know that rate. It ranges from about 5.5 cents to 15 cents.

So, if you had 6 bulbs running on 12/12, an expensive company might make that an extra (6 bulbs) * (0.023 kilowatts) * (12 hours per day) * (30 days) * (15 cents / kWh) = $7.45 per month.

You can do the math for a cheaper company, which would be roughly 2.80 per month. Not much at all.

So, there's the general idea. You won't be drawing much power with those lights, so don't worry.

Depending on where you live, the rates do increase in the winter. Here in Canada they do. The rate increase won't be too much. The way I see it for your situation, with the amount of lights you have, it won't be a very large increase. Just make a conscious effort to save energy in other places around your room/house, and the net increase in the electric bill will be minimal.

Good luck man - first grows are a good time. Make sure your parents are okay with it and everybody wins.

yeah that'd be cool. obviously not in the dark period, but in the lights-on period, that sounds like a good idea... maybe make sure you have a screen in your window incase bugs wander in!
