I posted in the micro cab section as well but this grow is also using cfls so I thought I'd post here also.

  • My first attempt was foiled by some things coming up in life that made me have to rip my plant out and now my second attempt is fueled by a random seed sprouting lol. I built a pc box out of an old pc case I had and it has around 90watts of cfl in it currently all are 2700k I would have gotten different but I live in BFE and my hardware store didn't have any different color temps. Was just looking for some feedback and tips, I know my soil is shit didnt plan on anything actually growing it just kinda sprouted which is why i built such a small box i don't want anything huge. And I have mylar coming in the mail sometime next week. I would change the soil but seeing as i'm a beginner and not too serious about it i'm just going to see how it goes as of now and if it dies I'm probably going to invest into some soil to plant some better seeds into. Oh and my fan is an old thermaltake performance fan from my old gaming pc which is where the case came from also. So it gets pretty decent airflow i think.

The first pictures are an hour after i put the plant into the box i built last night. The last pic is this morning after having it in the box overnight my lights are on from 11pm to around 4-5ish pm i think? it's 18/6 i know that lol. I plan on vegging for about 2-3 weeks then switching to 12/12 got some other seeds off better bud that i'm actually germinating and going to put into the box with good soil and everything after this grow is over.

Looks healthy to me. I haven't grown in something that small and I bet space is going to be an issue. I'd think you should probably start flowering no more than a month in, but I speak with no experience on the matter. People in the micro forum will know better.

I hope it's a girl!

I am also growing in a pc. by the 6th week im going to flower. when i get paid again. i dont know how much wattage i need for flowering. so im waiting to gather more information on the matter. Great looking plant too.

Ok. There's alot wrong here, and it hasn't caused damage (yet)

First off, get rid of the stack of books below the plant. Get rid of all of the 2700k light bulbs (i don't know that they are 2700k, but they look like 2700k) 2700k lightbulbs in early growth cause the plant to grow tall, which just won't work for what you're trying to do.

You're in the early stages of growth, where large volume of light ins't necessary, you're overdoing it, and it will impact your plan of growing this ina computer case.

Go get some daylight cfls, Sylvannia 6500k 23W CFLs (lowes sells these, HD does not) would work great for what you're doing, they are my favorite bulb. and put 1 or 2 in there with it, preferably overhead. get rid of the side light for now (you may use it again later). You definitely do not need 5 (i think i see 5) in there, yet.

Too keep it where it's at, you will need to restrict it's growth by:

1) Using blue spectrum CFLs
2) Limiting the amount of light (more light means bigger plants, no question there)
3)keeping it in a small pot (or cup)
4) flowering early.

Growing in a pc case isn't easy, but there are people who have done it. I suggest searching for "party cup" grows.

It also looks like you have -no- drainage for water. You need to allow the plants pot to drain out, or it promotes mold growth (especially with the amount of heat you got going on in that small pc case). It will also help the plants root growth which ultimately affects the yield.

None of this has become an issue yet, but it's just a good idea to make the changes now before it becomes a problem and you have to,
