CFL grow box

Hey everyone I just started my first grow and everything has been going as expected so far in the first week. I am currently using a few 26watt CFLs in my grow box.

I have been wondering however if the height of my box is too limiting to maintain one mother plant in, its only 14inches tall but i just need a plant to take clones from.

Here are some pics at about 4days from germination

In regards to my grow box height only being 14inches does anyone know how small of a container I should use as to not constrict the roots?

thanks for any replys

keep it green out there

I am a little confused, you want to maintain a mother plant in a box 14" tall? If so you may want to rethink that. I am using 3 gallon pots (12" wide on top, about 12" tall) in my little cab. They are getting the job done but if I could use bigger I would. Especially with a mother plant, you want her to be healthy and established.

haha well i suppose I shall be scrapping that idea then.

This is my first grow so ill just see how far i can get with them.

my seedlings seem to have fairly flimsy stalks atm, is this normal for 6day old plants or could it be due to my not having a fan blowing on them?

They look fine to me. I never used a fan on my seedling, I just tried to make sure there was airflow. If you want a cabinet to be pretty functional use 4' tall as a target. It can be shorter and work just remember to consider the height of the pot and overhead lighting. Here is an pic of mine from a bit ago, the lighting config is different now but you get the idea. Oh this has two chambers - this is the right. The left is identical in size, they are sealed off from eachother. I plan to start clones there and use as veg chamber.

Good luck to ya!
