Okay Guys so some of you might know from a few previous posts I've made one here but in a nutshell, My good buddy just moved out of state & asked me if I would take 4 of his plants off of him & raise them cause his other option was throwing them away. I have now been for the last week or so, keeping them in veg giving them 18/6 & lots of good water & air! but I was looking for some information on how far to keep your CFL's above foliage, but there are so many different opinions I'm unsure of what to do exactly. I've been hanging them 2-3 inches above the plant & have a few 2-3 inches on the side of the plant. I have 5-55 watt 2700 K 3,860 lumens & 6 23 watt 6500 K I don't remember the exact lumens on the box though & things have been going okay. but I just want to get a few more opinions directly from you guys! lemme know whats up Y'aLL! just make sure the plant doesnt start to show heat stress when that many cfls are really close... ive had bad experience with mine thinking i can go really close. i personally think if the temps at the top of the plants under the light are any more than 90F then its too warm for them but thats just me. imo i would keep that many cfls depending on setup about 6 to 12 inches away. im running two power bars with 6 spliters, 2 45watt 3000lumen and 10 26watt 1600lumen cfls in a 3x2 space and it gets pretty warm even with a hood fan, intake, exhaust. thats 3,666 lumens per square foot, over the minimum of 3000, that lets me have a little bit of light loss due to how far they are so my babies dont get stressed from the heat. hope this helps
