anyone ever done the complete cycle using cfl's ? Any succes or decent bud using them, I've read that cfl's are only really good for veg and no good for flowering. Or just weak bud low yields

CFL's are perfectly fine throughout the whole grow, using 6500K lights will veg and 2700k lights will flower.
But you cant just use a 40W kitchen bulb, I would advise 2X 230W CFL lights for a 4x4x6 tent or space even a bit smaller/larger that will accommodate.

If I where you I'd stay away from the bigger cfls, and just use some HO T5's, I just feel like they cover more space, plus i've seen a few grows that where grown entirely under T5's and they look way more amazing than just CFL's, I used to grow with cfls I had 4x 40w CFLs, they yield decent airy-ish buds, but the only problem is finding where to place them so you can get the most out of,

I just feel more comfortable under a T5 fixture because I don't have a whole bunch of extension cords & light sockets to deal with, Which I feel like is a fire waiting to happen

2x 230W CFLs is 2 wires with reflectors?
which would easily cover up to about 8 plants.
