can't really get a large yield from that many cfl.
not to say you can't get a really good quality small yield tho!
Hps IMO is the way to grow
you can get good deals on like a 150 200 for your small grow space on ebay.
good luck with what ever you do peace

Hi,

Im on my first time cfl grow too and although i havent harvested yet i dont think it will be too dissapointing.

Im running a total of 265 watts of cfl lights, 45 of them in the blue spectrum and the rest in the red, im about 6 weeks of harvest ( at a rough guess) and they range from 15" to 2.5 feet in height with ample bud sights, i think you will be quite happy with your yield but it wont be enormous.bongsmilie

Couple of pics attached so you can see, enjoy:peace:

Peace out !

I have never used a hps light yet, so it is hard for me to compare. I went w/ the larger CFLs with the clamp-on reflectors. I can place my CFLs anywhere in my grow closet, above, along the front, back and sides of my plants. Currently flushing my roots for 7-10 days, replacing the water ever 24 hours, to harvest what is ready. The remaining bud will go back into flowering stage for 2-3 weeks, or until they mature. Yield? Well this my first grow, using an aero-hydro grow set-up, General Hydroponic Flora Grow, Flora Bloom, Flora Micro and 10 CFLs. Harvest is very close, regarding the yield, I am impressed with what I have so far. I have seen less w/ HPS and CFLs alike, the key is placement of light in a grow box, tent or closet. The attached photo shows 7 of 10 lights, the other 3 are located around the inside.
The point is, CFLs can do a great job in the flowering stage of your grow, good luck bongsmilie

With any luck, I should hit the frontier in a few weeks. This is Ripley, signing off, the last known survivor of " The Nostromo "

Your bud looks real healthy, what strain are you growing?
there's a white widow, pipi and a northern lights, the smaller ones at the bottom are a 12/12 from seed experiment on sweet dreams (kc brains)
with a Greenhouse "church" thrown in for good measure, these are a few weeks behind though.

Natural organics and low level cfl seems to be a handy combo, lol

The placement of the cfls is more important than number somewhat imo. sounds like you'll be fine for a small scale grow. use as big of containers as you can, the more root space the better. how much vertical space do you have? lst and fimming are very useful in these type of little grows, you can literally position the colas and lights so the plant is absolutely bathed all over in it.

darkdestruction420, if you are asking me how deep my totes are, about 30 inches, or a bit less, but deep. At 17 weeks, four plants w/ roots weigh about 20#-30# or more. My next grow I am using a less depth tote box or tubing. Cuz my closet is short, I need more space during the flowering stage. Can't go up, so I need shorter growboxes. 2nd grow I may use 12-18 inch diameter PVC tubing in lue of any tote boxes. I had to move those big tote boxes a few times to make space, it was a pain in the ass.
BTW I purchased one of those hand held microscope, and today I saw cloudy, about 70%, amber, about 10%, and 10% clear. I just spent 6 days flushing roots, then boom! Babies have great color

I'd say, if possible, go with the 2700K. But the 3000K will work. And yes, you have enough lights. Don't let people tell you, you can't get a good yield and good quality with CFL's. You just have to know how to use them correctly! I have never grown, any plant, with anything other than CFL's.

Every single picture here I grew with 100% ONLY CFL LIGHTING. Just do the research. The proof is in the pudding!

I totally agree GG, though i could give a shit if it starts beef... it is like... "fuck yo couch" huh? Even though it is a public forum full of opinions it still just don't seem right for peeps to come in an recommend what they think someone should use... WTF you think the post is in the CFL section for.

Like a Porsche owner bloating to a Geo Metro owner about how much faster his car is.... to bad they get the same damn job done, yea time is a factor(or is it). Metro Owner does save a lot more money though!

I'm sure experienced growers know that once in awhile you can grow a dominate plant. With my first grow coming to a close, I have one of those dominating plants. I call her Big Bertha. Somehow she is so dominate, she killed off her neighbor plant, which is rooted in another growbox, no less. I did not realize this until the 13th week of grow. But Big Bertha makes it up on her thick sweet smelling colas, main cola as thick as my forearm, and 4-5 underbud growing thicker colas still, which shot straight up thru from under the canopy. I hope it's the Kandahar I germinated 19 weeks ago. If not, it's surely Big Bud, indica dominate, Kandahar is rated 90% Indica, 10% Sativa, think Big Bud is 80% Indica, 20% Sativa.

Oh yeah, someone said " U don't get thick bud using CFLs " Forearm thick is not thick?? I don't mean any dis-respect, never used a HPS yet, perhaps on my second grow, been thinking about....

photo 1,2,3 big bertha, 4 & 5 big bertha's underbud, trichomes at 50% clear, 50% cloudy, still checking for amber, possibly another week, currently rinsing roots, it's been 6 days of 24 hour rinse, lights at 14/10.

Thanks guys and a big wow to HookdOnChronics, awesome grow, looks super, maybe I'll hold on that hps light for now. Rather get more CFLs instead
