i have grownwith cfls befor but it has bean a wile. i have i1 plant. and a heat lamp with 3 y sockets and 4 23w soft whight light. i am groing in a very small closet. Its about 4"x1"x4". i have 4 13w (2700k) warm white lights. i have 3 soft white and 1 warm whithe on her now. she is about 3 dayes old and looking good. but i was wondering if i have the right type and amount for all of the my babys life. Is that the right amout of warm white lights for flowering or should i get more. no amount of money is to much but i cant but ventalaton in i just open and shut the door. i dont have a fan yet. and should i get a new lamp for her. i dont have a hydro shop around her so i have to get all my stuff at walmart, homdepot, and lowse.

Faser -
Lets concentrate on one thing at a time here...
1. Lights - Why the heat lamp? Cabinet temp should be around 80 degrees (as an estimate) as long as it is under 90 degrees you are normally ok. So first thing I would do is dump the heat lamp, more than likely you have no need for it.
The bulbs you are using are not correct for the plant stage you are in. You want the seedling to to grow and become healthy before it buds, you need to be using bulbs with a color temp of 6500k. When the plant is ready to bloom you switch to bulbs rated at 2700k.
2.Ventalation/Temp. You can buy a decent clip on fan and a digital temp gauge from walmart for about $15.00 total, make the investment. You have to keep air moving in the cabinet to help keep the temps in the ideal range.
Check the grow FAQ's, it can help answer alot of your questions.

Don't expect great yield with CFL. Your lights will grow them plants, it can be better. I assume by the heat lamp you meant it was one, but has a y in it so it can power multiple bulbs.

You want higher temp color like einstein said for vegetative growth and lower temp for flowering

Def get a fan, like einstein mentioned it aids in venting and temp control, but it also stresses the plants main stalk making it thicker and stronger, it also keeps dust from settling on the leaves and choking the stomata.

24/7 light is fine for veg, make it 12 on 12 off for flowering.

as einstein said get the 6500k for veggin and the 2700k for flowering,
you finished prodict with these cfls will be dank yes but will be bumfluff buds, if you were looking at dence juicy bud i would suggest investing in an hps

Not so, h.p.s. Will give you fluff nug's at 400 watts just as a c.f.l. Will
now the problem is this and this is my own 2 cents but from what i have done it works, flower the plant with c.f.l. Shorter than you would if using a h.p.s. Add more light when you need too, i would say this is the longer way of doing things but less cost. C.f.l. Lights will make you some super dank bud, don't even try to second guess that, remember that when a plant is induced to flower it will double in size, most time's..
To vent your space, a clip fan from walmart will help or a computer fan will improve the over all flow of things, air is the key and the rihgt spectrum is needed to get this done, but remember bigger plants do not mean bigger fatter yeilds, that is bullshit..
C.f.l. Lighting can do what a h.p.s. Can do every time, besides the amount of wasted light in an h.p.s. Is unreal.

I am guessing you have never grown with HPS and only use CFL.
Couple of things not quite right here, first of all, CFL has 1/4 the penetrating power of HPS, thats why you have to keep your plants so close to it. Bigger plants DO mean bigger yields, I guarantee that a 6 foot monster grown well will out weigh a 12 inch plant any day of the week.

HPS wastes less light than CFL. HPS is currently the most efficient light source commonly produced today. How would it get wasted?

I am sure youve grown great bud with CFL, i have too, but its no comparison to the nugs grown under HPS.

Well i respect your reply to my reply on this thred, and yes your right a monster plant will have more than a short plant, or in the comparison you have mentioned. As for the growman3666 reply i am aware of the preferred method i do have a h.p.s. Light, please feel free to look at the few pic's i posted,
but i have to say a h.p.s. Light will give fluff bud's, and there are allot of factors involved with that, but all in all the h.p.s. Is great but so are c.f.l. Lights.
I think a book from a site member on how to grow 8oz of bud for less than a hundred bucks puts all this in to perspective.
As i do trust the book i feel that i am right on most of this if not almost the whole thing.
And i am way to ripped at the moment to get into detail on this, but please respect what i have here in this reply and i will get my facts in order and lay them out another day.
And i think what is, the problem is the last sentence i said but i don't mean it DISRESPECTFUL AS IN I DO NOT AND AM NOT TRYING TO INSULT ANOTHER GROWER.
Respect to you,

senor i use it, just add it to the c.f.l. lighting, but in the summer where i live it is way to hot for that light and to much on the electric bill.

Wanna good cfl grow guide? " Buds for less" by SeeMoreBuds!

It will change the way you think about cfl growing. In the book the guy gets over 8 oz's of bud from 3 plants using cfls!!

Some good info in there

hps and nothing better. a 400 can make nice tight buds. if it dont it must be the strain or the grower. i just had 8 plants all under 2 feet tall and pulled off 7 ounces dry. if you think you can do that with out 10,000 bucks worth of cfl`s then i think you may be the best in the world.lol

heres another non fact.

"bigger plants do not mean bigger fatter yeilds, that is bullshit.."

you telling us a 2 foot plant will produce the same as an 8 foot plant? no offence bub but you need to read a bit more before giving that kind of advice

This thread is appealing to me cause I want that hps but cant affordit...boo hhoo......so i added cfl's to my t5's I have two ladies.....as far as i know hps are gonna give bigger yeilds.... however you cant use them if your rooms tooo hot or you have poor ventilation... furthermore you cant putem to close to the light(the plants)....and everyone knows on here that the farther the lights are the less lumens the plants recieves.....thats why t5's are so hyped....but still i think hps still has an edge....as for light spectrum its hard to get red or orange spectrum cfl's for me....where are they and how many should i get for my girls....its my first grow.....seems like padrino knows alot about em .....help.
