Well, I need to get some more pics snapped but its a dark cycle right now so it'll have to wait. The temperature is getting too hot in the boxes with the lid on, I have a 4" PC case fan running in there but its not moving enough air. The temp is getting to about 85, once I get some pics up hopefully someone will have a good idea how to fix this

Hey mortimer you are off to a fast start, maybe too fast, I will give you my two cents I am running a sog and have made alot of mistakes, first off I see all your supplies but no mention of tha basics, like something to test the ph in you water, a thermometer to monitor the temp and humidity in your enviorment, if you have them both then great if you dont have either, stop what you are doing and get them both......once you are don with your box, run it for 24 hours and monitor your temperature before you put any plants inside, rule of thumb is intake should be 2-3 times the exhaust, pc fans work fine, and what is the mylay for, your box looks painted white?? Mylar if I remeber correctly is only about 3% more reflective than flat white paint, BUT, it retains more heat..............ok thats enough of my rambling hope some of this helps

Is your fan inside your box?? You need to have the fan mounted in the lid to pull the hot air out of the top, and then have 2 intakes at the bottom on opposite sides

The dark cycle just ended so I snapped some photos for ya guys.

As for the basics, I have a PH kit as well as the Fox Farm nute 3 pack. I have been 24 hour standing PH balanced water to water with

I do have digital thermometer / temperature sensor in there. As for the mylar, the white paint wasn't 100% light proof so we needed to buy the mylar to keep the box from leaking light. We used 2 cans of the white paint and it still was glowing when the lights were on. Unfortunately glowing tubs is out of the question for any of the three potential houses that these tubs will be stored at. We also intend to decorate the outsides of the tubs with some stickers to get any places we may have missed.

Enough of my yammering, here are some pics.

Because of time/money we didn't end up getting the lights wired the way we wanted and instead have 4 lights per socket and 2 sockets per setup. Because of the weight my steel braided arms were unable to support the weight of the light so we rigged up the dual dowel rod solution. We just used an exacto knife to cut notches in the handle, and taped under them with some electrical tape. There is no light leakage and the lid closes perfectly

As you can see, when the tubs are on and the lights are on there is nothing suspicious to give it away

Edit: No pics of the intake right now but I can get one if someone wants to see it. There is one on the long edge of the bucket at the bottom so that the tubs can be kept in a corner with nothing suspicious exposed. I guess I'll cut another one to see how it helps, but I'd rather not cut more holes in the boxes than necessary. The fan seems to be blowing a lot of air, but the intake doesn't seem to be drawing a lot :-/

Hve you figured out your temperatures? as a future note put 1 coat of primer one coat of BLACK paint then 2 coats of white no glow......................

After about 6 hours of running the temp gets to about 84 with the lid on. I'm concerned that its slowly crawling still though. Right now there is a thin filter (for dust and stuff) over the intake so I might just yank that to see how it works. I was going for quick light diffusion but temp is more important now that the land lord has picked up rent and shouldn't be back for a while

I think the temperature of the room we've got the boxes in is problematic. I just checked temperatures and they were both at 88 even with the venting. I guess I'll cut another intake hole and see if it helps.

The room temperature was the problem. I've moved one of the boxes to another room and its now running at 74-80 depending on how warm the room gets. Now all thats left is a little bit more stealthing of the boxes and then its time to start our experimentation which includes one set of plants on 12/12 from today on, one set of plants on 18/6 until they're about 4 inches tall then flowering.

good deal glad you got it worked out I will stay tuned to watch your progress, how much vertical grow space do you have??

Just wondering...are both plants in the same rubbermaid??? If so how are you going to do two different light cycles????

We built two of the same setup, a friend took one to his house and I have the other. He is going to veg, and I am going to flower from seed.

I started 12/12 yesterday and fed all of the plants water PH'd to 6.5 and with 1/4 of a dose of fox farm big bloom. They're all looking healthy and happy. I'll get some pics in the next day or so.

What's up everyone... I have the second box mortimer was talking about. The plants are looking good even with some stress during the move . My temps are in the low 80s with the lid on... I'm thinking I need another fan for sure. But they seem to be doing alright now. Sorry I don't have a camera but I'll try to get some pix this weekend or next.

Here are some pics from day 16. I watered with a blend of the fox farm nutes. I cut everything by 1/4 and combined the last week of veg dose and the first week of flower dose. This is technically the second week of flower but I wanted to play it on the safe side.

These are all bag seed both from personal bags and friends so it looks like a mixed bag in terms of strains. Though there are two plants in particular that I am hoping will turn out to be some decent indica strain. One of them is in the bottom right of the 3rd photo.

There is a particularly odd plant in the upper left corner of the first picture (it has really round leaves) that I tried (and failed) at taking a close up of. Its blurry, but does that look normal at all?
