CFL setup for autoflowering

Hey guys. First post...have enjoyed TONS of information on this forum and am getting ready to embark on my first attempt. Lowryder PC Case style...from what I have gathered for a single plant, 2 42 watt CFLs should be more than sufficient (I have seen other people talking about doing single plants with a couple of 23 watts etc). I will have a full reflective surface, might opt for some additional side lighting...don't want to get carried away on a "first run".

My question though relates to kelvin. I understand that in the vegetative state 6500k is ideal and that when you move to flowering 2700k is ideal. On a standard 18/6 and then 12/12 type of cycle.

When it comes to autoflowering I have read that people are having good success with a 20/4 cycle from start to finish. Is it appropriate to stick with 6500k for the duration, or would you want to bring in a mixture? Do the autoflowering seeds 'know' when to flower or do they kind of flower over a longer period of time - thus...could you manipulate the veg/flowering time a little by using different kelvin levels in lighting like you would with a standard plant?

never grew a autoflower so im not too sure about wether or not a mixed spectrum would work..but what i do know is that autoflowers dont go by the light cycle..they start to flower as they get older.. i think your gonna want your lights on 24/0.....but im not too positive.

Yeah I've heard that 24/0 or 20/4 work about equally well for autoflowering.

Hopefully someone can give some input on spectrum...going with the nature of more or less just letting it do its thing I would think you wouldn't want to change it mid cycle.

Currently using a mixed spectrum and its only day 17 but its been growing well. 2 2700k 2 6400k at 20/4

I am seeing that a lot, people specifying 6400 rather than 6500. Is that a key difference?

You're fine with the 6500k for a couple of weeks, keep'em close with plenty of ventilation and temps below 85....... then I suggest you change out/add to the lighting....but you're gonna need quite a bit more lighting of any type to get a descent yeild. Lowryder strains typically show sex at 17-24 days and explode with growth at 4-5 weeks (if healthy)....With cfl, I'd def do 24/0....they don't need any rest during their short lives. And YES, I've grown'em for years.....
