CFL vs 2ft T5 HO

I often hear about people raving over the T5's. Especially the 2ft 8 bulb T5 for small grows.

How is this better than CFL? In a similar space, you can easily have more lumens using CFL.

1 2ft T5HO bulb produces 2000 lumens. At 8 bulbs that is 16,000 lumens per light kit.

Now, 8 42watt CFL's at 2700 lumens per bulb is 21,600 lumens. Arguably the latter is about 100 more watts, but it is a lot more lumens for the same or cheaper bulb price...not to mention the T5 fixture is far more expensive than a 4 bulb vanity light with 4 Y splitters.

Any thoughts?
